Likewise, the distinctions of prior and subsequent should also be understood. Therein, the Buddha Amitayus resides; according to the self-view of the Kriya Tantra, during the practice, what is mainly manifested is the arising stage of the solitary principal deity. According to the extensive and abbreviated methods of the higher tantras, it is the stage of contemplating oneself as the deity. In either case, teaching the Dharma is recitation. Through the three of writing, reading, and offering, it is the conduct between sessions. The names of Manjushri Tathagata, etc., explain their benefits. Then, the Buddhas of the eight directions and the Buddhas of above and below are blended into one with the central teacher Vairochana, Amitayus, and Shakya King, which indicates the creation of the mandala of the nine deities of the arising stage. According to the actual Kriya Tantra, it is the stage of practice. Saying that depleted lifespan can be extended is the ransom ritual. The statement "will become consecrated" refers to the consecration of the three supports and the consecration of the mandala, which indicates the preliminary and main practice rituals of the arising stage. Purifying the five inexpiable sins and eliminating the accumulation of sins are the water blessed by the wisdom mantra and the empowerment by mudras, namely water and crown. Demons cannot find an opportunity, which is the method of bathing, washing, and protecting. The method of how to empower is to show the faces of the Buddhas and give prophecies, etc., along with benefits. Saying that the Four Great Kings protect refers to the fact that for all these activities, their torma ritual should be performed. Explaining the method of offering to the Dharma and offering to the stupas of the Seven Buddhas refers to the scripture offering ritual and the creation of tsatsas, etc., the stupa practice, and the offering ritual. The statement "will make prostrations and offerings to all the Tathagatas" refers to making offerings to the mandala and prostrations at the time of entering the mandala. The words of empowerment are the verses of the Six Perfections. At the time of practice and empowerment, the common and uncommon blessings are indicated by "holding life and perfecting life." The third root division, subsequent rejoicing, is of the Bhagavan.

Thus he spoke, and so on, similar to the general Sutra Pitaka. This is called the One Hundred and Eight Names, and the previous masters considered the One Hundred and Eight Names to be the one hundred and eight letters excluding Svaha. However, upon slight examination, it does not seem contradictory to explain it that way for a sutra with three Oṃs. Some later people say that the dhāraṇī mantra with two Oṃs is impure because some translators have deleted the original text. This seems false, because there are many Sanskrit versions of both the dhāraṇī sutras with three and two Oṃs. Therefore, for the side with two Oṃs, there must be a separate One Hundred and Eight Names, and it is not contradictory that the One Hundred Names and its dhāraṇī sutra are in different volumes, just like the One Hundred Names of Glorious Heruka and its mantra. Therefore, it is difficult to make judgments about unseen things. Therefore, even if the two dhāraṇī sutras are the same in all other words, it should not be considered a difference in the Sanskrit version of one sutra or a difference of the translator, but it should be known that they are different tantras or dhāraṇīs that need to be practiced due to different rituals. In general, all mantra tantras spoken by the Buddha are included in the Sutra Pitaka, and even if they are distinguished from the perspective of Sutra and Mantra, it is not that there is no common basis, because the single dhāraṇīs that belong to the Action Tantra are both Sutra and Tantra, and this should also be understood as such. Merely practicing the literal meaning here does not contradict the way of the Pāramitās, nor does it depend on empowerment, as it is said in the Compendium of Trainings, the dhāraṇī of the Radiant Mother and so on. Meditating on the secret meaning that is not literal must be known to depend on empowerment. The Sutra of the Dhāraṇī of Amitāyus. Just slightly expanding the sutra. By whatever merit I have accumulated through this, may I attain the immortal Vajra body. This brief commentary on the Amitāyus Sutra was also spoken by Gyalkhampa Tāranātha. Revised. Mangalam! Blank page. Commentary on the Amitāyus Sutra.
