Commentary on the Dohā of the Great Accomplisher Nāgpopa: Key to the Profound Meaning. Commentary on the Dohā of the Great Accomplisher Nāgpopa: Key to the Profound Meaning. Herein is the treatise called "Commentary on the Dohā of the Great Accomplisher Nāgpopa: Key to the Profound Meaning." Namo Guru. By the moon-like light of his compassion, Opening the heart's lotus, Having paid homage to the feet of the Lama, I shall explain the supreme profound doctrine. Here, in explaining this Dohā, the Vajra Song, of the great accomplished master Nāgpopa, first, in the Indian language, it is called Dohākośa. Some translators translate Dohā as "verses," and some translate it as "inexhaustible." Sakya Paṇḍita said, "The Indian word Dohā, in Tibetan means natural and unadorned." As it is said, it is also so, meaning words from which meaning naturally arises. Many old Tibetan translators explain it as meaning "full." Tsetangpa Jeyönnu Pal establishes the thesis, saying: In Indian language, duha, means to pour. Dutor, meaning to go, is the meaning of going greatly. Like pouring milk abundantly, like a vessel being filled. Although he explains it thus, like the explanation of Uṣāṭara, it seems to confuse others, and especially, from the meaning of "full" to "pour," it is necessary to argue in a circular fashion, which is too far-fetched and does not fit, and it only causes futility. Kośa means treasury. Thus, that is the meaning of the name. Homage to glorious Heruka! This is a salutation of translation, but it seems that it also exists in the Indian original. Now, explaining the actual text, there are three parts: showing the difficulty of realizing that very reality, explaining that very reality in detail, and verses summarizing the meaning. The first part is: I am Skilled in the meaning of the sacred, I truly explain the pride of the world. If there is one among thousands, Who enters without impurity. By scriptures and ancient Vedas, They are proud of being wise, Like bees outside the ripening fruit of glory, They wander about. In these verses, the first two lines were translated by the translator Chökyong Zangpo as: "I am skilled in the meaning of the sacred, the people of the world are proud." The last two lines are, also known as Indian Vairocana, the accomplished master Vairocana Bajra.

From the self-arisen work, it says: Like a bee drawn to the sweetness of ripe fruit, (sentient beings) similarly wander in external realms. This saying is easy to understand. The term "world" refers to non-Buddhists, the Shravaka schools, and those who claim to have entered the two Mahayana traditions, who emphasize terminology. Although the term "world" encompasses everything, here it primarily refers to worldly people within Buddhism. They each remain in their own positions, and others do not understand the truth, claiming that only they are skilled in the ultimate meaning, and they debate with great arrogance. Thus, there are many who claim to have realized suchness. But have these people truly realized the ultimate truth? No, they have not. Among so many claimants, perhaps only one might enter the stainless, that is, the wisdom free from the dust of afflictions such as desire. The word "perhaps" means that among millions, there might not even be one such person. Here, "stainless" or "free from dust" refers to seeing the truth or realizing the nature of reality. And its standard is not limited to the commonly known path of seeing. From the moment one attains the wisdom of direct experience in the completion stage, one can realize the truth, and at that time, afflictions can be subdued as they are, so it can also be considered "free from dust" and "stainless." If even its boundary cannot be recognized, then it can be illustrated by examples such as the completion of Vajra recitation, or the arising of experiences in the mantra stages, or the initial completion of virtuous deeds, and entering into life-force practices, and so on. There is no certainty regarding the subtle aspects of the boundary. The second verse is a refutation of non-Buddhists, that is, scriptures and so on. Literally, it seems to be merely combining metaphors with arrogant people who are knowledgeable about ancient times, but within it lies the meaning that, as mentioned above, these non-Buddhists have not realized suchness. They rely on the hundred thousand sections of scriptures spoken by the Great Powerful Lord, as well as the four Vedas, six branches, books of remembrance, the six schools of thought, the eighteen ancient Bharata epics, and the fourteen treatises on practice and doctrine. These are all non-Buddhist.
