Commentary on the Condensed Illumination of the Five Stages Commentary on the Condensed Illumination of the Five Stages Herein is the Commentary on the Condensed Illumination of the Five Stages. I prostrate to the Lama and the Buddha! Having prostrated with a respectful mind to the Vajradhara empowerment mandala, I am delighted to explain the extremely profound instructions of the scriptures in brief. Here, to explain the meaning of the Condensed Illumination of the Five Stages, there are two different Sanskrit versions. In some texts, the Sanskrit is: Pañcakramasaṃgrahaprakāśa (梵文天城体:पञ्चक्रमसंग्रहप्रकाश,梵文罗马拟音:pañcakramasaṃgrahaprakāśa,Literal meaning: Illumination of the Collection of the Five Stages), and the Tibetan is: The Illumination of the Collection of the Five Stages. In some texts, saṃkṣipta is used instead of saṃgraha. Here, pañca means five, krama means stages, and saṃgraha means collection, meaning to gather scattered things into one place. Saṃkṣipta means collection, referring to the collection that is distinguished by the two, extensive and concise, meaning concise. Prakāśa means very clear or just clear. In many texts, reciting saṃgita, saṃgata, and prabhava is incorrect. I prostrate to the feet of the glorious Lama! This is the author's prostration, the meaning of which is to praise the supreme. Now, I will explain the meaning of the text, which has three aspects: the summary, the detailed explanation, and the greatness of the instructions. The first is: The great secret of all Buddhas, residing in the five stages, is the nature of reality, the path, and the order of the arising of the fruit. Thus it is said. Here, the nature of reality is the cause continuum among the three continua. The entity is the clear light of the nature of mind, and the branches are the phenomena of samsara. The path is the continuum of means. The entity is the wisdom of the five or six stages, and the branches are the means and instructions for accomplishing those stages that have not been accomplished, and the practices of the session breaks, and so on. Vows, generation stage, the order of ritual actions, activity sets, activity sets, and common siddhis are also included in this. Furthermore, there are explanations of empowerment as the cause continuum and explanations of the practitioner as their own cause continuum, but I will not elaborate on them here. The order of the arising of the fruit is the fruit continuum. The entity is the great mudra, the supreme attainment, the state of no-more-learning union, and the branches are the learning

Entering (the text). There are also instances where common siddhis are explained as the resultant lineage. When establishing the generation stage, the generation stage itself is the ultimate self-result, which is in terms of similar forms. The meaning of those three lineages is that they abide and are complete in the five stages. The resultant lineage is included in union. The causal lineage is the basis or support upon which each of the five stages strikes the essential point, so it is encompassed by all five. Like that, the near cause that actually unites with the resultant Buddha is conduct, as well as the two manifest enlightenments, upper and lower, and the way the resultant Buddha abides, which is explained as the body of great bliss, as well as the profound methods of striking the essential points of the vajra body during the path stage, and the nature of the ground mind, which inherently possesses the self-nature of the dharmadhatu body and the three bodies. These are the characteristics of proclaiming the unsurpassable vehicle, as well as the common essence of the Great Vehicle, such as emptiness, compassion, and skillful means. These are directly realized by all the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times, and are the great secret shown to others. Among them, the great secret is: ར་ཧ་སྱ་ (Tibetan), रहस्य (Sanskrit Devanagari), rahasya (Sanskrit Roman transliteration), secret. This is a meaning that other ordinary people cannot understand or obtain, so it also includes things that are very secret or need to be kept secret. Since the main part of the meaning is the most supreme, it is a meaning that is almost and uncommon. For example, the wish-fulfilling jewel that fulfills all desires can eliminate all diseases, protect all demons, illuminate all directions even at night, and rain down food and clothing, etc. Because it has immeasurable good qualities that other things do not have, it is called ར་ཧ་སྱ་ (Tibetan), रहस्य (Sanskrit Devanagari), rahasya (Sanskrit Roman transliteration), the meaning of supreme. Such a supreme and unsurpassed thing, let alone falling into the hands of ordinary people, is not even visible to the eye, therefore, it does not need to be specially kept secret, because it is inherently secret, so it is also called ར་ཧ་སྱ་ (Tibetan), रहस्य (Sanskrit Devanagari), rahasya (Sanskrit Roman transliteration), secret. Second, the detailed explanation is divided into: establishing the basis of the meaning, and again explaining in a definitive manner. The first part is from "The reality of things is twofold" to "Gaining this quickly arises." It is divided into two parts: one is to determine the state of the ground object, the second is the reason for the method of striking the essential point, the third is to clearly show the actual path, and the fourth is the wisdom of
