Collected Teachings of Tilopa TILO4: *Not Thinking of Body, Speech, and Mind* by Saraha 1-3-1a ༄༅། ། *Not Thinking of Body, Speech, and Mind* by Saraha ༄༅། ། *Not Thinking of Body, Speech, and Mind* by Saraha 1-3-1b ༄༅། །In Sanskrit: Kāya-vāka-citta-amanasikāra-nāma. In Tibetan: *Not Thinking of Body, Speech, and Mind*. Homage to the one who does not abide in characteristics! Homage to Vajradhara! Whose body's excellence utterly destroys the four maras; Whose actions are accomplished by the liberation of yoga; Who truly bestows the meaning of desire; Who shows the supreme meaning of compassion for beings. The ultimate meaning does not abide, the thought of the Victorious Ones; In whose mind, all this is unthinkable. Your activity shows many branches; Rejoicing and filling all the realms of space. Supreme speech proclaims various sounds with sixty branches; The excellence of mind, thought does not move from the sphere of reality; Yet all are satisfied, rejoicing and showing forth. The umbrella of love and compassion clearly shows the mandala; Utterly destroying Mahadeva and Umadeva; The nature of all Buddhas of the ten directions and three times; The door to liberation is the path of yogis. Whoever does not differentiate with the union that possesses supreme excellence; Is the great yogi, without difference. Whoever does not know that; Does not see anything with the aspect of impurity. Whoever holds all that, that is; Relying on the two lights, shows all actions. The egoless, one taste, pervading; The form that possesses form. This does not abide here, yet all go. Having been empowered as the king of mantras and sutras; The root of all these, not thinking in the mind; Do not think of one and two. The magic of conventional appearance shows various wonders; The ultimate meaning is without object, the sphere of reality is of one taste. Eliminating the darkness of diseases such as the five poisons; Without seeing the end of the beginning and the basis of the end; The unconditioned, there is no object of mind. Between the apprehended and the apprehender, dwelling without name; If the branches are different, then it is the nature of one. All the terms of what is to be known and what is to be done; If one looks at it differently from this, one will experience it with characteristics. Like Rahula devouring the moon; Not thinking... 1-3-2a --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clinging to this, one becomes childish and lost within it. Between distraction and abiding, there is no such thing as 'essence'. Between the two, without cause or condition, without birth or cessation, The hordes of wrong views cannot dwell here. Like patterns drawn with musk, saffron, and sandalwood, Or like the bright moon obscured by starlight. The light of essence will overwhelm the radiance of branches. It is difficult to investigate the end of 'from here to there' and the occurrence of this. Whoever enjoys the pure sky, The qualities of desire arise without increase or decrease. Whoever holds the flawless jewel, The merits of mind will arise from this great treasure. Always looking in a way that cannot be seen. This 'essence' that manifests the nature of reality has already passed. Even the most supreme minds cannot fully comprehend it. In a non-dual way, the Thus-Gone One (Sanskrit: Tathāgata). Knowing that nothing has gone from here. This neither abides nor dwells anywhere. Always free from looking at this objectless place. Wherever one goes from here, Do not be carried away by the sound of fear. Proceed together with ease. Alas! Friends, is there a dualistic thought about this? All discriminations are driven by the wind of delusion and become the words of a madman. Having become mad, one falls into the ocean. Whoever desires to realize that which is not separate from Brahma, dust, and the darkness of signs, That one sees the ocean, earth, and fissures turning into jewels. Whoever engages in the conduct of asceticism that transcends suffering, This one is showing that they do not know. The original state, free from duality and without fabrication, Is that which is unseen. It is definitely established and becomes without inherent existence. Whoever overcomes the unseen, that one becomes victorious. The Three Vehicles (Sanskrit: Triyāna) teach the transcendence of suffering. Here, without understanding it, one cannot see it. The path of liberation, and any particular distinctions, Are not something that children can understand. Whoever realizes that this is free from attachment, That one abandons all three or eight sufferings. Not departing from the Two Truths (Sanskrit: Satyadvaya), with various skillful means, Benefiting beings, the rays of light radiate to the left and right. An overturned vase cannot purify what is impure. Completely destroying the six interconnected realms, and so on. The all-knowing one cannot see it. It is neither praised by fame nor propelled by it. Alas!
