Great Treasure Trove TD2983: The Vine of Fresh Hope: How the Great Treasure Trove was Printed Printing Colophon How the Great Treasure Trove was Printed: The Vine of Fresh Hope Printing Colophon The Method of Compilation, The Greatness of the Compiler How the Great Treasure Trove was Printed: The Vine of Fresh Hope Namo Guru Deva Dakiniye (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Sanskrit Romanization, Literal Chinese Meaning) May the compassion of all Buddhas blaze forth in the sky, the one sun of the protector of beings. May the rays of light from the Three Roots and Three Jewels, immeasurable and boundless, shine equally with the sky. May the supreme teacher arrive here to make the lotus garden of the Buddha's teachings flourish. Even upon attaining enlightenment, I offer the dust of the feet of the glorious Lama to my crown. From the churning of virtuous deeds, like Mandara flowers, A thousand cool rays of the Dharma treasure benefit all. Look! The one medicine that quells the heat of samsara rises as the glory of beings in the three realms. Here, the great path traveled and followed by all Buddhas of the past, present, and future, the profound ultimate view of the Three Roots, the lifeblood of all heroes and dakinis, the heart essence of the ocean of vidyadharas and siddhas, the life force of all Dharma protectors and oath-bound ones, the pinnacle of the Vajrayana of clear light, which ripens fortunate individuals into rainbow bodies in one lifetime—the three sections of the inner tantras of secret mantra. Among these, the Dharma categories of the early translation school are: the extensive Kama (Oral Transmission), the profound Terma (Treasure), and the essential Dagshang (Pure Vision). Here, I will briefly describe how the latter two were printed, in three parts: the method of compilation, the greatness of the compiler, and the method of printing after compilation. First, it should be known from the lineage and catalog composed by the venerable Lama himself. Second, this matter requires the permission of the ocean of the Three Roots and oath-bound ones, and can only be accomplished by one who dwells in a high state of inner realization, and whose aspiration to protect the great treasure of the Buddhas' Dharma has been fulfilled over countless eons. Ordinary people cannot even conceive of it, let alone compile it. The Great Vehicle is not the realm of shravakas and pratyekabuddhas, and the Vajrayana is not the realm of those who follow the path of causality. What more need be said about the unsurpassable vehicle? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A brief account of his biography is divided into two parts: a brief account of the common biography and a brief account of the uncommon biography. Firstly, the conduct of holy beings is simply this: on the basis of not violating the three vows, they mature themselves through hearing, thinking, and meditating, and they mature others through teaching, debating, and writing. Everything is included in this. Therefore, this Lord Lama abides in the great Vajradhara state with the three supports. In particular, he has attained special realizations of the Vajrayana path since he was young, and he has achieved secrets equal to those of the Indian adept Nāgpopa (Tibetan: ནག་པོ་སྤྱོད་པ་, literally: black conduct) and others. Although it seems that he has reached the age to wander in the conduct with the attire of glorious Heruka (Tibetan: ཧེ་རུ་ཀ་, Sanskrit: Heruka, Romanized Sanskrit: Heruka, literally: blood-drinker), like the glorious Lord Atiśa (Tibetan: ཇོ་བོ་རྗེ་), he has an attitude of what should be abandoned and what should be adopted. If there is no need, he does not even transgress the slightest offense of the Pratimoksha vow. With the four mudras (Sanskrit: catuḥ-mudrā) his mind is well tamed, so no matter how high a state he attains, he has no arrogance and always bows to everyone. Because he has mastered the two Bodhicittas, his face changes as soon as he sees or hears beings in general, and especially those who are afflicted by suffering, and compassion arises. Even to the lowly, such as dogs and beggars, he personally distributes even the leftovers of food, and he always benefits others. In particular, because he makes only mind training (Tibetan: བློ་སྦྱོང་) his practice, he repays harm with benefit. No matter how great the harm is, such as the wrongdoings and slanders of the entourage, his patience is like a mountain, unmoving. Because the phenomenal world appears as a vast mandala of perfect purity, there is no time when he transgresses the Vajrayana vows. He has often said, 'My body, speech, and mind are never separated from the three things.' However, even in the eyes of ordinary people, he always guards his body, speech, and mind, let alone the root downfalls, even the gross offenses and transgressions. Even if a slight fault occurs, he restores it through confession and restoration, as in the Vajrayana discipline. In essence, he abides in the prohibitions and permissions of the three vows, and he encourages others to do so, so he is worthy of being an example for all Vajradharas who possess the three supports. In terms of learning, he relied on more than one hundred and fifty virtuous spiritual friends and studied the five major sciences of common knowledge, medicine, craftsmanship, grammar, and inner science, as well as the five minor sciences such as poetics, thus perfecting all ten sciences. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
