Purify all the Tormas (food offerings) by blessing them with the three syllables of purification, Om Ah Hum, through emptiness (Svabhava) and the swirling of nectar (Amrita). Recite Om Ah Hum three times. In front of the Torma, place a handful of barley with a white arrow banner attached, adorned with a mirror and smeared with fragrant scents. Find a child who is articulate and of pure lineage, between the ages of twelve and sixteen, and bathe him. Have him pick up any stone, wrap it in a clean cloth, and the diviner places the stone under his right knee. Then dress the child in clean clothes and seat him on a cushion. Banish obstacles, visualize a protective circle, and generate yourself as the Great Compassionate One (Chenrezig). Purify both the divination object and the child, and visualize a white, jeweled, small speaking deity. Radiate light from your heart, and invite the wisdom beings from the expanse of the sky and pure realms, merging them into it. Offerings are presented. Pray for the granting of the accomplishment of clear divination, and pray that these white, small speaking deities enter the child's mind. Finally, recite no less than a thousand repetitions of confession prayers. Have the child visualize a magnificent white yak and have him look into the mirror. Occasionally, sprinkle barley imbued with the power of mantras on the divination object and the child, so that he will speak. Alternatively, offer a cup full of chang (barley beer) mixed with cinnabar and red ochre, chant mantras, offer Tormas, and burn white incense. By doing so, whatever you ask will be answered. If this does not happen, the child will see many forms in the mirror, such as humans, ghosts, the three deities, and animals. If it is a protective deity, it will appear magnificent and fully adorned. If it is a harmful spirit, it will appear if you make offerings according to its wishes, such as effigies (Mdos) and Tormas, and hold a feast. The child will sense them chattering. If the child does not sense them chattering in a deliberative manner, then clearly explain it to the child, and then sprinkle barley again so that they speak, and have them listen, so that they will clearly sense it. Furthermore, images of unprecedented rocks, lakes, rivers, stupas, trees, monasteries, towns, and animals will appear. If this matter is successful, if this divination is good, then such sights will grow taller and larger, the stupa will have umbrellas and victory banners, the house will have radiance and newly erected arrow banners and spear flags, and all the mountains will have large and extensive snow and ice around their waists, which are good signs. If it is bad or unsuccessful, then all of these will appear smaller, frightening, with ugly colors, or becoming smaller. If everything becomes less during the interval, it is because it is influenced by the shadow of others. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
