Rinchen TerdzodTD2391 'The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of Practice'. 'The Heart Drop of the Clear Expanse'. Practice. 'The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of Practice'. 'The Heart Drop of the Clear Expanse'. Practice. 'The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel of Practice'. To the Six Protectors (Avalokiteśvara, Mañjuśrī, Vajrapāṇi, Tārā, Vasudhārā, and Bhṛkuṭī) who embody great compassion, we prostrate with reverence through our three doors (body, speech, and mind). In order to lead the fortunate ones onto the path, I shall now explain the order of practice. It consists of four parts: First, to renounce the appearances of this life and strive for liberation, the teaching on renunciation is given. Second, to entrust the mind to the Three Jewels and enter the path of the Great Vehicle, the teachings on refuge and generating bodhicitta are given. Third, to eliminate adverse conditions and obstacles and to perfect favorable conditions and the two accumulations (of merit and wisdom), the teachings on the maṇḍala and the accumulation of merit through kusulu offerings are given. Fourth, to quickly purify the three obscurations and manifest the three kāyas (dharmakāya, sambhogakāya, and nirmāṇakāya), the purification of obscurations through the Hundred Syllable Mantra is given. The first is: In a place that pleases the mind, sit on a comfortable seat. First of all, as a preliminary to all dharmas, it is crucial to contemplate, not just superficially but with heartfelt sincerity, the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowments, the ease with which they are lost, the impermanence of death, and the sufferings of the six realms of samsara. Samsara is a continuous cycle of suffering, without any time of liberation. Even contemplating the suffering of each of the six realms is heartbreaking. The only way to be liberated from these is the sacred Dharma. If we keep postponing the practice of Dharma, there is no certainty when we will die. Think carefully, there are countless people who are smiling today but become stiff corpses tomorrow. They never thought they would die tomorrow. There is no trust in the body made of the four elements, not even for the length of a meal. The breath is like a puff of air, the warmth is like a spark, and life is as fragile as a hair on a horse's tail. It can be cut off in an instant, which is astonishing. Think carefully! All those born in the past have died, and all those who will be born in the future will also die. All those who are on this earth now are also trembling and decaying, and will die. There is no difference between young and old in terms of aging. There is no good or bad in appearance. Death is certain, and there is no certainty when it will come. One must leave behind relatives, unfinished business, un-worn clothes, un-eaten food, un-slept beds, and the body and all its possessions. There will be nothing left but the talk of 'so-and-so has died'. The time will come when one must leave alone, like pulling a hair out of butter, which is truly terrifying. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alas! After death, there is no other place to go. There is no dwelling, nor are there convenient conditions to prepare. The places one can go do not exceed the six realms of samsara. If one is born in hell, there is no time to escape from suffering for many eons. What certainty do I have that I will not be born in hell? If there is no Dharma in this life, there is no choice but to fall into the lower realms. Now, like a person suffering from a serious illness and tormented by thirst, one must diligently and tirelessly strive for virtue. At the beginning of each practice session, one should think about this well. Second, taking refuge and generating Bodhicitta are very important. The only ones who can save us from the above-mentioned sufferings are the Three Jewels. Although the ultimate Three Jewels are present in the hearts of all beings, they cannot be manifested due to karmic obscurations. Therefore, in the manifestation of faith, visualize that in the sky in front of you, all the objects of refuge appear densely like clouds. Oneself and all sentient beings, including one's parents, should take refuge with sincere faith, like prisoners longing to be released from prison, and not just recite it verbally. 'Namo! I take refuge in the Lama, the mandala of the six Jewels (Guru Jewel, Buddha Jewel, Dharma Jewel, Sangha Jewel, Yidam Jewel, Dakini Jewel).' I and all sentient beings in the six realms, until enlightenment, take refuge and prostrate. Past, future, and present, in the three times, The Buddhas who continuously care for sentient beings, I take refuge and prostrate. The peaceful, undefiled, ultimate truth of the Dharma, The irreversible path for the sake of the three vehicles, I take refuge and prostrate. The unerring path, the supreme field of merit, The noble Sangha, far removed from the defilements of afflictions, I take refuge and prostrate. The essence of all Buddhas of the three times, The lord of the secret, supreme mandala, I take refuge and prostrate. The Dharmakaya is unborn, free from the extremes of elaboration, For the benefit of beings, manifesting in peaceful and wrathful forms, I take refuge and prostrate. From the pure realms, bestowing supreme bliss, The Dakini host, granting supreme accomplishments to those with vows, I take refuge and prostrate. Holding the reins of good and bad, guarding the vows, The ocean of Dharma protectors, who act as companions in accordance with the teachings, I take refuge and prostrate. Emaho! Sentient beings tormented by ignorance and karma! Seeking happiness, they engage in actions that cause suffering. Unskillful beings, how pitiful! Please bless and purify the obscurations of afflictions and karma! In this city of the six realms of samsara, from which there is no escape, From one place to another, like a water-drawing wheel. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
