Furthermore, those who uphold the conduct of the Śrāvakayāna (the Hearer Vehicle), even Buddhas who are perfect in abandonment and wisdom, may adopt the appearance of Śrāvakas according to the needs of those to be tamed. In particular, those who perform extraordinary activities in propagating the Dharma are known as the Sixteen Arhats, according to the great Kashmiri Paṇḍita. Receiving the empowerment of this practice, hearing their names, and offering prostrations and offerings all have immeasurable benefits. Especially, reciting the name-mantra of the Thubpa (Buddha Shakyamuni) even once purifies the karmic obscurations of a thousand kalpas. It is said that merely hearing their names brings an end to samsara. Due to the power of their individual prayers, the benefits of these deities also arise individually: Śāriputra (舍利弗) has great wisdom; Maudgalyāyana (目犍连) has great physical strength; Upāli (优波离) has pure morality; Aniruddha (阿尼律陀) increases qualities; Vanavāsin (伐那婆斯), the one who dwells in the forest, pacifies all harms; Kālagomin (迦留陀夷), the one who is timely, gathers retinues and attains realization; Vajrīputra (伐阇罗弗多罗) accomplishes all purposes; Bhadra (贤者) realizes ultimate truth and accomplishes samadhi; Kanakavatsa (迦诺迦伐蹉) obtains dharani and eloquence; Bhāradvāja (婆罗堕遮) liberates from the lower realms; Bakula (薄拘罗) increases wealth; Rāhula (罗睺罗) pacifies faults and understands all Dharmas; Cūḍapanthaka (周利槃陀伽) pacifies afflictions and suffering; Piṇḍolabharadvāja (宾度罗跋罗堕遮) pacifies all suffering; Panthaka (半托迦), the one who shows the path, generates eloquence and increases intelligence; Nāgasena (那伽犀那) fulfills all desires and pacifies suffering; Gopaka (瞿波迦) is skilled in the five sciences; Abheda (阿比达), the non-divider, accomplishes purposes and pacifies sins; Dharmatrāta (达摩多罗) ripens and liberates those to be tamed; Hvashang (和尚) subdues all beings; Udayana (优陀延), the protector of the land, pacifies internal and external conflicts; Nakula (诺俱罗) averts untimely death; Sudarśana (苏达尔舍那) increases auspiciousness, wealth, and livestock; and Vaiśravaṇa (毗沙门天) obtains all common siddhis. Likewise, receiving the empowerment of each of these deities also has these benefits. Furthermore, there is the sutra of the 'Biography of the Noble Joyful Friend,' the ritual and sadhana of the Sixteen Arhats, and the long-life ritual before the Jowo (Buddha Shakyamuni image) in Lhasa as a ritual for the teachings. There are catalogs containing the feast and history from the terma of Sangye Lingpa and Gar gyi Wangchuk, and the sadhana transmitted through Sharawa by Paṇḍita Bodhicitta, but these do not have extensive empowerments. Later, appearing from the rays of light of the emanation of the Noble Ananda, the 7th Tulku Migyur Dorje, from the age of eleven, repeatedly saw the Thubpa (Buddha Shakyamuni), but did not speak. The Tulku asked the monks, 'What is the reason for needing robes?' I do not know. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When I saw Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), I asked him questions. He just said 'Tsuk' (Tibetan, No corresponding Sanskrit, No corresponding Romanized Sanskrit, An interjection) and smiled before disappearing. Later, I saw a very fat holy monk, and I ran in fear to my father's lap. Then, when I was thirteen years old, on the fourteenth day of the Saga month in the Year of the Golden Ear, I actually saw Shakyamuni Buddha (Thubpa, The Able One, a title of the Buddha) with his retinue of Arhats, and they unanimously taught limitless methods of practice and oral instructions. They also unanimously bestowed this empowerment upon me and then disappeared. Therefore, this lineage is very close, and the power of blessing has not diminished. It is very fortunate to receive such a warm empowerment of the Buddha's teachings. Under the auspicious circumstances of maintaining pure morality, it is very important for monks and nuns to be able to receive it. For such an empowerment, one must first pray with unwavering faith to the root guru Shakyamuni Buddha and his retinue, and please repeat after me. Etc., guide according to the specific situation, and perform according to the empowerment ritual. The subsequent rituals are performed according to the usual rituals. This was written by the treasure minister Ra ga a sy at the request of the master Tsultrim Yangdak. If there are any mistakes, I confess to the assembly of Dharma protectors. May the Buddha's teachings flourish and spread in all directions through this merit. Mangalam! Mangalam! When I saw Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava), I asked him questions.
