The Near Lineage Longevity Practice: The Sadhana and Empowerment Ritual of the Immortal Vajra Lifeline, called 'The Nectar of the Immortal Vajra' Near Lineage Longevity Practice, Sadhana. OM SWASTI. I prostrate to the Lama and Deity who grant the supreme immortality. I will now write down the essence of the Vajra Lifeline practice and empowerment ritual, condensing it into a clear and concise form. This has three parts: the preliminary arrangement of materials, the main practice of the sadhana, and the ritual for admitting students and bestowing empowerment. First, the preliminary arrangements: On a well-cleaned platform, place a longevity vase with ornaments on a mandala in the center. To the right, longevity wine. To the left, longevity pills. In front, place a torma and offerings. Also, in front of oneself, have a vajra and bell, damaru, inner offering, arrow banner, red powder, activity vase, and flowers. Nearby, have a raksha torma and all other necessary materials. Second, the practice: First, generate the boundary deities: Purify with OM HRIH PADMANTAKRITA VAJRA KRODHA HAYA Griva HULU HULU HUM PHAT. Purify with SVA BHA. From emptiness, on a lotus and sun disc with crossed rudras, one instantly transforms into a powerful wrathful Hayagriva, holding a curved knife in the right hand and a skull cup of blood in the left, with a greenish-black horse head neighing. Adorned with the eight charnel ground ornaments, residing in the midst of blazing wisdom fire. Purify the raksha torma. From emptiness, from OM, a vast and wide precious vessel arises, filled with a torma that is clear and unobstructed, distinguished by the five desirable qualities. Bless it by reciting OM AH HUM three times. Recite OM SARVA VIGHNAN etc. three times and dedicate it. HRIH, all you hordes of obstructing spirits and demons, depart from this place! Take this torma and move elsewhere! If you do not leave, by the command of the great powerful wrathful one, you will be destroyed into particles of dust! Expel the obstacles with SUMBHA etc. Above, below, and in all directions, vajras and wrathful deities, a mass of five-colored flames, completely fill the space without interruption, creating a protective wheel-tent. Do not transgress the boundary! Seal the boundary with OM VAJRA RAKSHA RAKSHA SVAHA. Then take refuge. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before the Guru pervading the sky, from this moment until enlightenment, I and all beings take refuge in the Three Roots and the deity of longevity. In order to attain the perfect Buddhahood for the benefit of others, I generate the mind to practice the immortal Vidyadhara. Recite the refuge and Bodhicitta three times. At the beginning of accumulating merit, visualize oneself as the Great Powerful One, dissolving into light, and from the heart of Amitayus appearing in the space in front, rays of light emanate, inviting the assembly of Amitayus deities inseparable from the Guru. Offer from 'Om Sarva Tathagata Argham' to 'Shabda Pratitsa'. By whose kindness, great bliss arises in an instant, the Guru's body is like a precious jewel, I prostrate to the Vajradhara's lotus feet. And, the Lord of the world, Amitayus, who destroys all untimely deaths, is the protector of helpless and suffering beings, I prostrate to Amitayus Buddha. Thus, prostrate to the Guru and the Yidam. Offer the perfect Samantabhadra cloud of offerings, confess sins, rejoice in virtues, and pray for the Dharma wheel to turn forever and remain for a long time. May all the virtues of this and all lifetimes be taken care of by Amitayus, and may we dedicate them to attaining the accomplishment of immortal longevity. Thus accumulate merit. Visualize all the fields of merit dissolving into oneself. Bestowing blessings: From the Western Pure Land of Sukhavati, the Bhagavan, the Lord of Wisdom, Amitayus. Please grant all the accomplishments of immortal longevity to us at this time. Please infuse all the substances of the vow, internal and external, with the radiance of life, the splendor of majesty, and the power of ability. May the Great Powerful One eliminate sins, obstacles, and hindrances, and grant the desired fruit—the Vidyadhara of longevity. From the palace of self-arisen wisdom, the Dakini, the sovereign of secrets and wisdom, grants the accomplishment of immortal longevity (the following is omitted as before).
