Great Treasure of the Dharma TD1697: A Supplement to the Guru's Heart Practice, Dispelling All Obstacles: The Bathing Ritual Called 'Moon Nectar'. Various Activities, Various Baths. Great Treasure of the Dharma TD1697: A Supplement to the Guru's Heart Practice, Dispelling All Obstacles: The Bathing Ritual Called 'Moon Nectar'. Great Treasure of the Dharma TD1697: A Supplement to the Guru's Heart Practice, Dispelling All Obstacles: The Bathing Ritual Called 'Moon Nectar'. The Bathing Ritual Called 'Moon Nectar,' a Supplement to the Guru's Heart Practice, Dispelling All Obstacles: That which destroys the darkness of existence, And bestows the nectar of benefit and bliss, With reverence to the Guru and the Deity, I shall explain the bathing ritual. It has four parts: preliminaries, main practice, subsequent activities, and supplementary meaning. The preliminaries have three parts: preparation, self-generation as the deity, and accomplishing the vase. First is the preparation: fill a vase with water from a continuous source, and add the twenty-five substances. Tie a neck cord. Arrange a conch shell filled with fragrant water, adorned with a vajra string, on a stand. Place the lid nearby. Surround it with the seven offerings, and recite: Namo! Guru, Yidam, Dakini! Three Jewels, Ocean of Buddhas! Until enlightenment, for myself and all beings, With one-pointed devotion, I take refuge! Ho! For all sentient beings who have been my mothers, To attain the state of perfect Buddhahood, I confess all misdeeds, gather virtuous actions, And constantly generate the altruistic Bodhicitta. Purify the offerings with the Sanskrit Romanization: svabhāva,Nature) mantra. Expand them into Samantabhadra's offering clouds with the Sanskrit Romanization: bhyo biśva,no literal meaning) etc., the mantras of the treasury of space. Second is self-generation as the deity: Ah! Vajrasattva, vast as the sky, Unseizable, like the moon in water, From the play of Samantabhadra, Arises the root deity of the union of method and wisdom. The white deity holds a vajra and bell, Embracing his consort, uniting bliss and emptiness. Adorned with silks and precious jewels, Visualize in the unconditioned, natural state. Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra sattva ā,Om Vajra Sattva Ah) a little. Third is accomplishing the vase: 嗡 玛哈 舜亚达 (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་མ་ཧཱ་ཤཱུནྱ་ཏཱ་,Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ महाशून्यता,Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ mahāśūnyatā,Om Great Emptiness) etc. From emptiness, upon a lotus and moon cushion, The syllable Sanskrit Romanization: bhrūṃ,no literal meaning) transforms, in an instant, Into a precious vase complete with all characteristics, In the center, filled entirely with nectar, From the syllable प (Tibetan: པཾ་,Sanskrit Devanagari: प,Sanskrit Romanization: paṃ,no literal meaning) arises the pistil of a lotus stem, From the syllable हुँ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་,Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ,Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ,no literal meaning) arises Vajrasattva, purifying all karmic obscurations, His body is white and clear, holding a vajra and bell, Adorned with silks and precious jewels, seated in the vajra posture. Upon the seats of the four lotus petals in the four directions, In the east is the secret lord who leads all to liberation from the lower realms, White, in a peaceful manner, holding a vajra and bell, In the south is the one who breaks the samaya... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
