Da Bao Fu Zang TD1631 The Ritual of Bestowing Auspicious and Wish-fulfilling Empowerment to the Benefactor. General Outline: Empowerment. The Ritual of Bestowing Auspicious and Wish-fulfilling Empowerment to the Benefactor. General Outline: Empowerment. The Ritual of Bestowing Auspicious and Wish-fulfilling Empowerment to the Benefactor. Namo Buddhaya (Homage to the Buddha). A brief explanation of the connection for requesting the benefactor in the complete ritual of empowerment. First, one may recite verses of auspiciousness to the Three Jewels, or related passages, or omit them. The following is an explanation: The benefactor, with superior intention and pure action, perfectly accomplishes the support of the body, speech, and mind of the Sugata (Buddha), and requests the empowerment. This is the basis of all auspiciousness. As stated in the 'Sutra of the King of All Dharmas': 'In the world with gods, apart from the Three Jewels, there is no place of merit. Therefore, all things are offered to them.' Thus, the supreme field of merit to be relied upon by all beings, including gods, is the Three Precious Jewels. However, for those who have supreme intelligence in the profound state, the nature of the Three Jewels is the mind of enlightenment, the self-born wisdom, and the essence of self-awareness, which are inherently and spontaneously present. As stated in the 'Magical Mirror': 'The self-born, stainless wisdom body, the indestructible bindu (藏文:ཐིག་ལེ།,梵文天城体:बिन्दु,梵文罗马拟音:bindu,汉语字面意思:明点), the great bliss, pervades all like the sky, is the nature of the non-abiding Dharmakaya (藏文:ཆོས་སྐུ།,梵文天城体:धर्मकाय,梵文罗马拟音:Dharmakāya,汉语字面意思:法身).' And as stated in the 'Adorned Tree': 'Whoever abides equally in nature with me and the Buddhas, without abiding and without taking, they will become Sugatas. Form, feeling, perception, discrimination, and heroes, they will become great Thubpas (Buddhas).' Maitreya (慈氏) also said: 'In the ultimate meaning, the only refuge for beings is the Buddha, because the Thubpa (能仁) possesses the Dharmakaya (法身).' Thus, for the common disciples who have not understood such meaning, the compassionate activity of the Buddhas is blessed into the mudras (手印) of body, speech, and mind, which are placed before them as supports for accumulating the two accumulations, known as the Three Jewels. Those who desire liberation must rely on them. Understanding this principle, one should exhort the benefactor: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the scripture says: 'On the ground, show two things, what should be done and what should not be done.' That is, understanding that all phenomena of saṃsāra-nirvāṇa (འཁོར་འདས།), from the very beginning, are naturally pure and possess spontaneously accomplished qualities, this unchanging dharma nature, like the sky, universally abides in the state of reality, which is the realm of the wise. Taking the former as an example: 'If you realize the meaning of emptiness of dharma nature, who will establish what, with what, and where? From the beginning, the unborn is unborn, how and how should it be established? In the light of the unborn dharmas, those who possess realization are places of offering, there is no need to establish them.' Also, if one regards the supports such as body images as manifestations of the compassion of the tathāgatas (དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ།), as emanations of the mudrā (ཕྱག་རྒྱ།) of body, speech, and mind, and has faith in this, taking the former as an example: 'Even if you do not realize the meaning of emptiness, body images, scriptures, stupas, etc., arise from the blessings of the Buddha's manifestations, and if they do not arise in this way, they will not arise. If you understand this and have great faith, there is no need to establish them.' Thus, in order to place ordinary disciples who have not understood these two meanings in the position of the two accumulations (ཚོགས་གཉིས།), it is necessary to perform the consecration ritual. As stated in the scriptures, it is said by distinguishing between definitive and provisional meanings: 'Abiding in worldly conventions is taught for the sake of relative truth.' Even in the conceptualization of consecration, it is said: 'All Buddhas abide, but there is no consecration. Relying on worldly conventions, it is designated as consecration.' The essence is to gather the great qualities of the Buddha on the support, making it an auspicious and virtuous object. As stated in the conceptualization of the wrathful one: 'After creating the Buddha's image, respectfully worship it as the Buddha. The Muni (ཐུབ་པ།) sees it in this way and protects sentient beings.' The essential instruction also says: 'Even when seeing the support, think that it arises from blessings, therefore it is the very nature of the tathāgata. Have faith and respect and make prostrations.' Thus it is said. It is also said: 'The supports of body, speech, and mind are the blessings of abiding wisdom, the place of the five elements of samsara, which are the very nature of body, speech, and mind.' The meaning of the word is from the word 'su-pratiṣṭha-vidhi' (སུ་པྲ་ཏིཥྛ་བི་དྷི་), meaning to establish well and the ritual to make it last long. Because the support is established as the essence of jñānasattva (ཡེ་ཤེས་སེམས་དཔའ།), it is good, and because it is made to last as long as samsara is not empty, it is long-lasting. Both of these should be known by the wise. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
