The activity spread widely. Mountains, rocks, lakes, and treasures, he concealed them all at Samye. He manifestly displayed miraculous feats for all to witness. He prophesied to the eight vidyadhara practitioners, and bestowed empowerments, blessings, and subsequent instructions. As the secret consort of a hundred dakinis, he was immensely powerful. Having perfected the practice, his realization remained unwavering and steadfast. Having perfected liberation, he subdued the arrogance of dualistic appearances. Having perfected asceticism, he caused all beings to be tamed, to swiftly attain both supreme and common siddhis. This is a brief compilation of the biography of Gyalsé Guru Padmasambhava, being the tenth chapter on his extraordinary kindness to the land of Tibet. Thereafter, in the southwest, in the land of wrathful Rakshasas, billions upon billions of man-eating Rakshasas were everywhere, their power amplified, like a great ocean surging at the border. All the red-faced Rakshasas bared their fangs, flying into the sky and diving into the depths of the water. Unimpeded on rocky mountains, they moved like the wind across the earth. They spread throughout all the great and small countries of Jambudvipa. They killed men, consuming their flesh and blood as red food. They mated with women, propagating Rakshasa offspring. Eventually, everything would turn into a land of Rakshasas. Because there was no virtue and sin filled the kingdom, these difficult-to-tame beings could not be subdued by others, Padmasambhava saw that only he could tame them, and like a great garuda soaring, he departed for the land of Rakshasas. He displaced the Rakshasa king, entering into the cavity of his belly. Until samsara is emptied, with unceasing skillful means and compassion, he performed wondrous deeds, subduing the Rakshasas and establishing Jambudvipa in peace. How wondrous and supremely kind! This is a brief compilation of the biography of Gyalsé Guru Padmasambhava, being the eleventh chapter on subduing the red-faced Rakshasas. As proclaimed in the prophecies of the Bön treasures, by the merit of condensing the essence in brief, may all beings to be tamed who see, hear, remember, or touch this, quickly attain the state of Padmasambhava, liberation upon sight!
