The Great Treasure, TD1530: The Practice Ritual for Accomplishing and Offering to the Great God Tangla Nyenpo, Called 'The Great Drum of Brahma'. Homage to the Lama, the Lord, the Skull Garland Power! You are the powerful protector of Padmasambhava's teachings, the master of the eighth bhumi; You are the king of the Gandharvas, the lord of the arrogant ones in the three thousand worlds; With the power of Vajra Burning, may you be pleased, And shower down the desired siddhis like rain! The Tibetan people, followers of Padmasambhava, May they not stray until the very end, You who hold the vajra branch of protection, I will now explain the ritual for offering to you. Here, the practice is mainly based on the treasure guardian of the Great Master Padmasambhava, the deity of the Dharma King, and the great protector of the Kagyü teachings, Tangla Dorje Barwa Tsal (Vajra Burning Power), which comes from the Red Treasure Trove Dharma section. It is divided into three parts: preparing the implements, empowering oneself, and the actual offering ritual. First, the arrangement of the outer, inner, and secret supports during the practice should be understood from other rituals. Here, only for the occasion of offering prayers on auspicious days, in front of a painted image of this deity, spread a clean white cloth, fumigated with incense, and scatter white grains on it. In the center, place precious vessels filled with barley and white rice flour mixed with jewels. Make a torma in the shape of an eight-petaled lotus facing upwards, with a square base and one layer of steps. The torma should be square, with a crystal palace-like top, adorned with a triad of jewels, and no less than one cubit in height, decorated with a white silk umbrella. To the right, left, and behind it, place precious vessels made of crystal, etc., filled with pure water such as cliff water, snow water, and lotus pond water. In front, arrange a white triangular offering torma, one cubit high, decorated with many finger marks and a sheep's head. Behind these, arrange eight high tsombo (small mounds of food) in eight directions, surrounded by white grains. Also arrange butter lamps, yaks, horses, sheep, white beer, sweet beer, golden beer, and fried flour, as well as water, water, and a complete set of offerings. Display arrows, banners, spears, flags, armor, weapons, and other pleasing objects, and also burn good wood and white incense.

First, taking refuge and generating Bodhicitta. In an instant, one's own awareness transforms into a red ཧྲཱིཿ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Romanized Sanskrit: hrīḥ, Literal meaning: seed syllable), fully manifesting as the powerful Hayagriva, with a red-black body, the crown of his head reaching the Akanishta heaven, feet extended over the ocean, the sun, moon, and stars encircling his waist, using Mount Meru as a pedestal, his right hand lifting the Form Realm, his left hand suppressing the Desire Realm, adorned with charnel ground ornaments, the sound of neighing horses resounding in all directions, subduing all male and female spirits, the sound of ཧྲཱིཿ (Tibetan: ཧྲཱིཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ह्रीः, Romanized Sanskrit: hrīḥ, Literal meaning: seed syllable), ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: seed syllable), and ཕཊ་ (Tibetan: ཕཊ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: फट, Romanized Sanskrit: phaṭ, Literal meaning: cutting) roaring like thunder, transforming into a form that controls the three realms and overpowers the three existences. Recite: ཧྲཱིཿམ་ཧཱ་ཀྲོཏ་པདྨཱནྟ་ཀྲྀཏ་ཧ་ཡཾ་གྲཱི་བ་ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ། ཡ་མ་ར་ཙ་དུ་ཏྲི་ཕུ་ཏྲི་ཧྲཱིཿཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ། (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning) and other mantras, accompanied by praise and musical instruments: Hayagriva is the deity of power, who subdues all arrogance, is Padmasambhava, is the Guru, Vidyadhara, and incarnation, I prostrate and praise with reverence through the three doors of body, speech, and mind. Thus it is said. The third part is the actual sequence of the ritual, including: blessing the offerings, establishing the support, inviting and abiding, vows, offering praise, recitation, completion, golden drink, smoke offering, entrusting activities, exhortation, and the subsequent thirteen actions. First, blessing the offering of the Torma, purifying by reciting ཧྲཱིཿམ་ཧཱ་ཀྲོ་དྷ་པདྨཱནྟ་ཀྲྀཏ་ཧ་ཡཾ་གྲཱི་བ་ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ་ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning), and then purifying with the སྭ་བྷཱ་བ་ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning: nature) mantra. From emptiness, the three syllables radiate light and dissolve, manifesting the outer, inner, and secret offerings, beautiful and abundant, becoming a cloud of offerings that pleases the great deities and their retinues, its nature being immeasurable and inconceivable like the treasury of space. Recite: ཨོཾ་སརྦ་བིད་པཱུ་ར་པཱུ་ར། སུ་ར་སུ་ར། ཨཱ་བརྟ་ཡ་ཨཱ་བརྟ་ཡ་ཧོཿ བཛྲ་སྥ་ར་ཎ་ཁཾ། (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning) three times. Then purify the Torma, from emptiness, from the syllable བྷྲཱུྃ་ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning: seed syllable) appears a vast precious vessel, in which the Torma, transformed from the syllable ཨོཾ་ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal meaning: seed syllable), possesses perfect color, smell, taste, and touch, marked with the three syllables ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: ओम् आह् हुम्, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ āḥ hūṃ, Literal meaning: body, speech, and mind), radiating light, gathering all the essence of samsara and nirvana, merging into the Torma. The three syllables dissolve into light, inseparably mixing, becoming an inexhaustible great ocean of wisdom nectar. Recite: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿཧཱུྃ་མ་ཧཱ་བ་ལིཾ་ཏ་ཏེ་ཛོ་བ་ལིཾ་ཏ་བ་ལ་བ་ཏེ་གུ་ཧྱ་ས་མ་ཡེ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ། (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning) three times. Secondly, establishing the support in front, purifying by reciting ཨོཾ་སྭ་བྷཱ་བ་ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal meaning: nature) and other mantras. From emptiness, in front of oneself, appears a crystal palace, made of various jewels, the lintels shining with light. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
