Homage to the deity of the Secret Essence Assembly! I, Padmasambhava (Lotus-Born), a vidyadhara like myself, For the sake of future fortunate beings, From the great *Subduing All Arrogance*, I reveal this *Outer Accomplishment: Subjugating the Maras*: In a secluded place, set up a platform of large, medium, or small size, According to the occasion, apply the five elixirs and five meats. On top of that, place the body, speech, and mind supports of the Secret Lord (Guhyapati, Vajrapani): First, arrange whatever tangka or statue is available. In front of that, inside a skull cup with auspicious markings, Fill it with nectar, medicine, and blood. On top of the skull cup, on a flawless black silk, Write the essence mantra of the Secret Lord in gold or vermillion. Around it, arrange the five elixirs, five meats, torma, And whatever kinds of offerings are available. First, take refuge and generate bodhicitta according to the text. Then, offer the white torma and obstacle-removing torma according to the text. From the protection circle onwards, do up to the samadhi. Around the environment are eight cool charnel grounds, eight trees such as Campaka, eight clouds such as Sala trees, eight waters of compassion, eight fires of wisdom, eight self-arisen mountains, and eight self-created stupas. Eight great tombs of non-discrimination, where dwell eight swift Dakinis, eight great hero yogis, and eight groups of gods, nagas, ogres, ascetics, brahmins, etc., who protect the fields. In the center of the wheel, on a lotus, sun, and moon seat, the essence of one's own knowledge and awareness, a completely transformed blue Hūṃ, arises. From this emerges the Bhagavan Vajrapani, extremely wrathful, with a blue-black body, nine heads, eighteen arms, and eight legs. The main face is blue-black, the right face is white, the left face is red, above that the right face is yellow and the left face is green, and above that the face is smoky, the right face is red and the left face is white. Each head has three eyes, and the twenty-seven eyes move in all directions, gazing with hatred. The mouth is open, the tongue is curled, and the four sharp fangs are tightly clenched. The beard, eyebrows, and hair are reddish-yellow, burning like the fire at the end of an eon. The two main hands hold a curved knife and a skull cup, embracing the consort. The remaining eight right hands hold a vajra, a staff, a trident, a sword, a short spear, an enemy-dagger, an iron hook, a club, and the heads of eight gods. He has two wings of burning weapons, and eight legs standing in a giant's stance, riding on the eight planets.
