Aspiring to subdue enemies and obstacles, this concentrates the essence of a single aspiration, being the heart of all those aspirations. It is the sharpness of all secret mantras, knowledge mantras, dharani mantras, and wrathful mantras. This easy to do, little time consuming, and greatly meaningful practice, is deeply instructed for the benefit of future followers. Mahākāla (Great Black One) Hayagrīva (Horse-Necked One) is the incomparable compassionate guru. Is the Iṣṭadevatā (Chosen Deity) who swiftly grants blessings. For the sake of protecting the Dharma, he is the Dharmapāla (Dharma Protector). For the sake of destroying enemies and obstacles, he is the Karmakara (Worker of Action). Although there are some elaborate and concise versions of this, practicing this single hero, because the enumeration of the retinue is uncertain. The Bhadrakalpikasūtra (Auspicious Aeon Sutra) is peaceful. Yakṣas (Nature Spirits), arrogant ones, and the eight classes of beings, by their inherent power, are the retinue. Therefore, it is extremely sharp and swift. This profound Dharma, which accords with the meaning of praise, for the benefit of those to be tamed in the degenerate age, was hidden by Padmasambhava in the Ḍākinī's secret treasury in the central pillar of the assembly hall of Samye Chimphu. Extracted by the thirteenth Nyangrel Nyima Özer, the founder of the tradition of profound Termas. In order to ripen and liberate, receiving disciples through the gate of common blessings, and two uncommon, extremely vital life-force empowerments. Now, the profound life-force empowerment is being practiced, so first, as an offering of request, please offer the Maṇḍala. Please offer the Maṇḍala. With great reverence, with palms together and holding flowers, supplicate the Black Hayagrīva who is inseparable from the guru, please repeat after me: Guru inseparable from Heruka, please listen! Please admit me into the Maṇḍala of Hayagrīva's empowerment, and bestow blessings! Repeat three times. Taking refuge in the essence of the Three Jewels, self-aware Bodhicitta, and the Great Powerful One who is inseparable from the guru Hayagrīva, until attaining enlightenment. Generating the supreme Bodhicitta for the benefit of others, and practicing its conduct, please repeat after me: Embodiment of all Buddhas of the three times, I take refuge in Bodhicitta! Entering the gate of the Great Powerful One, for the sake of the Dharma and beings, I vow to diligently practice! Repeat three times. With the ring finger, place drops of Amrita on the three places (forehead, throat, heart) of the disciples. Visualize your own crown as a white wheel marked with the syllable Oṃ; the throat as a red lotus marked with the syllable Āḥ; the heart as a multicolored vajra marked with the syllable Hūṃ; obtain clarity as the nature of the Three Vajras. Then, in order to purify the lineage, visualize in the space in front, the guru and the deities of Hayagrīva's mandala as dense as clouds. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the presence of (the Lama, the Buddhas), with the intention of performing the sevenfold purification, repeat after me: Lama, mandala of the Buddhas! Body, speech, and mind, I prostrate with reverence. Outer, inner, and secret offerings I present. The accumulations of sins, I confess and repent. The virtues of myself and others, I rejoice. I urge you to turn the wheel of Dharma. I beseech you not to pass into Nirvana, but to remain. I dedicate the merit to all beings. (Repeat three times) With the intention to keep the five vows of Vajrayana, both general and specific, repeat the following: Lama, great glorious Heruka (wrathful deity)! Mandala deities, please listen! As the Buddhas of the past generated Bodhicitta! I, too, generate Bodhicitta! The supreme vow of the Buddha family! I will firmly uphold! The supreme vow of the Vajra family! I will firmly uphold! The supreme vow of the Ratna family! I will firmly uphold! The supreme vow of the Padma family! I will firmly uphold! The supreme vow of the Karma family! I will firmly uphold! (Repeat three times) Then, to request the actual empowerment, offer a mandala. Recite this prayer: Inseparable from the great glorious Heruka! Vajra Master, please listen! I enter the gate of the great glorious empowerment! Please bless me through the gate of your body! (Repeat three times) Om Vajra Krodha Haya Griva Hum Phat Om, Vajra, Wrathful, Horse, Neck, Hum, Phat) Due to the recitation of the root mantra, you instantly transform into the wrathful king Hayagriva, with a dark blue-black body, one face, and two arms. Three eyes glaring fiercely. Wrathful lines gathered between the eyebrows. Mouth open, tongue curled. Four fangs bared. The right hand holds a subjugating sword, severing the heads of enemies and obstacles into pieces. The left hand holds an iron hook, drawing out the life force of enemies and obstacles. Both feet press down on enemies in a bent posture. The body is draped with a large black silk cloak. On the crown of the head, a green horse head neighs loudly, echoing powerfully in the sky. Completely subduing the three realms, overwhelming the three existences with power. The upper body is adorned with a silk shawl. The lower body is clad in a tiger skin skirt. Adorned with a crown of five dry skulls. Wearing a necklace of fifty fresh heads. Sparks of fire emanate from the pores. Visualize yourself instantly transformed into the deity residing within a blazing inferno of the eon's end. Thus, you appear as the Samaya being. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
