Homage to all the assembly! Believing in the secret practice of Hayagriva (རྟ་མགྲིན་, a wrathful deity in Tibetan Buddhism) transmitted from the great accomplished Kyergangpa, if we consider it from a historical perspective, when the accomplished Rinpoche (རིན་པོ་ཆེ་, meaning 'precious one,' usually referring to a respected lama) was at Kyergang, having perfected the two benefits (benefit of oneself and others), in the year of the Horse or Tiger, on the seventeenth day of the first winter month (Tibetan calendar), at dawn, he had a dream and went to Oddiyana (ཨོ་རྒྱན, the birthplace of Padmasambhava). There, he met Guru Padmasambhava (སློབ་དཔོན་པདྨ་འབྱུང་གནས་) and requested a profound Hayagriva practice. In an instant, the Guru transformed into Hayagriva with three faces, six arms, and eight legs, a fierce and terrifying form, and emitted three wrathful horse neighs. All the dakinis (མཁའ་འགྲོ་, female deities) gathered and received the empowerment of this Hayagriva. After that, Padmasambhava said: 'Among the one hundred and eight lineages of Hayagriva that I possess, I have selected the essence from the supreme Tantra of the Play of the Supreme Horse (རྟ་མཆོག་རོལ་པའི་རྒྱུད་), creating a secret practice and concealing it as a treasure at Nyemo (སྙེ་མོར་, a place name). A fortunate yogi (སྔགས་པ་, a practitioner of tantra) will extract this treasure.' He can destroy kings, Pekar (པེ་ཀར།, a type of spirit), wealth demons (དཀོར་འདྲེ།), hordes of demons (འགོང་པོའི་ཚོགས་), and all the eight classes of gods and demons (ལྷ་སྲིན་སྡེ་བརྒྱད་). So, the next day, he took one gold srang, a silk cloth, and two dzos (a hybrid of a cow and a yak), went to Nyemo, offered them to the yogi, and listened to the secret practice. After that, he had another dream and requested Padmasambhava. The Guru spoke this practice three times and said: 'Because you have not yet received the transmission of the wheel (འཁོར་ལོ་, Sanskrit: chakra), go and request it again.' So, he took twenty nyikri (ཉི་ཁྲི་, a unit of measurement), sugar, and two pieces of coarse cloth, and requested the instructions on the wheel. After that, through practice, he quickly beheld the deity and subdued over a hundred patients with epilepsy and mental disorders. Even if you have gained stability in the generation stage (བསྐྱེད་རིམ་, a term in Tibetan Buddhism referring to the visualization of the deity), if you do not perceive appearances as illusory and instead try to subdue fierce diseases and demons, it will create severe defilement and conflict. Therefore, do not do things beyond your capacity. Also, once, I consecrated (རབ་གནས་, a religious ceremony) a stupa (གདུང་རྟེན་, a reliquary) containing the remains of a king, but that king did not want to leave, so I suppressed him by striking the stupa with a vajra (རྡོ་རྗེ་, Sanskrit: vajra) in a forceful manner. As a result, fire blazed from the vajra in Hayagriva's hand, and the king fled in terror to the outer ocean. Although the consecration was successful, I later suffered many offenses. I thought, 'I should completely destroy this king through a fire offering (སྦྱིན་སྲེག་, Sanskrit: homa).' That night, Guru Padmasambhava appeared in my dream and said: 'Wonton (དབོན་སྟོན་, a title for a teacher), you have gained stability in the deity, but do not attack powerful demons, do not fulfill great desires, and do not perform fire offerings to the great nagas (ཀླུ་, serpent-like deities).' Seed syllables and mantras: None --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
