Since there is nothing (to replace it), all offenses and transgressions are offered as atonement and confession; the price of life and ransom are offered as sacrifice; to compensate for not killing (life); to repay for not stealing; to repay debts for not being attached; Offer it, please accept and take it away, may the anger in your heart be appeased, with a mind of peace and benefit, dispel the fear of death.' After speaking, pile all the funerary objects around the deceased. Then, bathe with incense water that has been chanted with mantras, infuse the bathing water into the ransom, and visualize yourself as being free from all fear of death. Then, turn the offerings around, and with firm samadhi pride, recite: 'Hum! Listen, Lord of Death, Yama! You are the magical power of karma, the lord of life for beings, the Yama of all the dead, the one who nails the living to the stake, the one who distinguishes between good and evil. To you and your retinue, today, I offer the life and lifespan of so-and-so as ransom. May you be pleased and satisfied, release the captured, untie the bonds, without violating vows and precepts, enjoy this wonderful offering, leave, go elsewhere, and do no harm in the future. If there are past grudges, may they also be resolved through this offering. If you violate the teachings of the great Buddha, you will turn to dust. Therefore, great obstructer, please leave, and do not violate the sacred oath.' After speaking, recite wrathful mantras, burn Gugul incense, strike (the instrument), accompanied by music, and send all the items to the end of the southern village. Then, visualize the protective circle, place the one to be saved on a white cushion, sprinkle with incense water, place the vajra on the heart, and recite: 'Om! By the truth and power of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and the majesty of the gods and world protectors, may you be victorious today in the battlefield of the Lord of Death and the armies of demons, may you be eternal and your life be firm.' Pray and bless in this way. Or perform the empowerment as before. By doing this, the signs of the end of life, etc., can be resolved. If this does not reverse it, then do it again. By this method, even beings whose lifespan has been exhausted will certainly have their lives extended by five years. Samaya! Redeem death as in the inner practice: From the Hum syllable, visualize a firm vajra tent, inside the tent, from the Bhrum syllable, visualize a seamless room made of skulls, its essence being vajra, inside the room, one's own mind essence is the Yidam, appearing as a skeleton, at the heart, visualize a Hrih syllable shining brightly like a lamp. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scattering the rays of karma, cutting the signs of dreams, etc., at the top of the protection wheel with weapons, burning them with fire and infusing the essence into oneself, reciting twenty-one times བྷྲཱུྃ་ (Tibetan, भ्रूं, bhrūṃ, seed syllable of light) with each breath. When holding the breath upwards and exhaling, perform reversion and cast the Thalma (Tibetan: ཐལ་མོ, literally: hand seal). This will instantly pacify the signs of untimely death. Samaya (Tibetan: ས་མ་ཡ, Sanskrit Devanagari: समय, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: samaya, literally: vow). The secret method of deceiving death is: at dawn, before speaking to anyone, straighten the body posture, visualize the deity, eliminate impure air, and in the center of the body visualize a clear and transparent central channel, and in the empty space of the central channel, visualize a white bindu the size of a mustard seed, clear and shining. In the navel, visualize a red རཾ་ (Tibetan, रं, raṃ, seed syllable of fire) burning, clear, hot, bright and sharp. Then, as the breath rises, visualize the fire of tummo as bright as lightning, and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, heroes and dakinis, all sentient beings and the environment dissolve into the nectar of immortality. As the breath enters, visualize the nectar of all the Buddhas inside and outside dissolving into the bindu at the crown of the head, increasing it greatly, and the nectar of immortality flowing like a stream of milk, filling all the channels and the body, and practicing single-mindedly in the samadhi like a spark of fire, all the signs of untimely death will be pacified. This is the essential instruction condensed for deceiving death. Padmasambhava, with this teaching, eliminated the obstacles to the life of the king, and out of compassion for future generations, imparted it to the fortunate subjects.
