The Great Treasure, TD794: 'The Ritual for Purifying the Realm of the Bhagavan Protector Amitabha and the Subsequent Activities of Other-Benefit: The Swift Path to Sukhavati,' by Chokgyur Lingpa. Light Ritual. Empowerment Instructions. Namo Guru Amitabhaya. Through the inconceivable power of your compassionate intention and activities, you breathe all beings into the blissful realm. Reverently bowing to the Lama Amitabha, I will briefly explain the sequence of other-benefiting activities. This has two parts: taking hold through the gate of life empowerment, and taking hold through the ritual of purifying the sins of the deceased. The first has three parts: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. First, in the preparation phase before the ritual, set up a vase filled with blessings in front of the painted image, along with a statue, a mala on the right, and a mirror on the left. Other offerings are similar. Prepare a torma for the boundary nearby as convenient, and a karma vase in front of the master, along with the preliminary torma needed for the disciples. The preparation belonging to the ritual, and the prayer at the end of the main recitation, up to the aspiration prayer, should be completed according to the purification ritual, whether elaborate or concise. Bless the water of the karma vase by reciting 'Om Hayagriva Hum Phat' as much as possible. Second, the main practice: To the disciples, 'How were they born,' etc., and purify them with the karma mantra. Preliminary torma. Purify with 'Om Hayagriva Hum Phat,' and cleanse with Svabhava. From emptiness, Bhrum transforms into a precious vessel, vast and wide, filled with a torma with perfect color, smell, taste, and power. Bless it three times with Om Ah Hum. Invite the guests with 'Om Sarva Bhuta Akarshaya JAH.' Offer three times with 'Om Sarva Vighnan Balimta Kha Kahi.' By the truth of the Three Jewels, the blessings of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, the great power of the complete accumulation of the two accumulations, and the inconceivable power of the pure realm of Dharma, may the disciples be taken hold of today... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To perform the initiation ritual, may all obstructing demons be satisfied with this offering cake and depart from this place to a distant location!' Recite ཨོཾ་ཧ་ཡ་གྲཱི་བ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊཿ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, hayagrīva hūṃ phaṭ, Sanskrit Romanization, Hayagriva Hum Phat, meaning 'wrathful horse-necked one, hum, phat') and Sumbha etc. to expel them. Recite ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་རཀྵ་རཀྵ་བྷྲཱུྃཿ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, vajra rakṣa rakṣa bhrūṃ, Sanskrit Romanization, vajra raksha raksha bhrum, meaning 'Vajra, protect, protect, Hum'). Visualize that all directions, above and below, are covered by a vast and indestructible Vajra protection tent. With the intention that oneself and all sentient beings attain the great state of enlightenment that does not abide in the extremes of samsara and nirvana, please listen to the profound initiation with this motivation. Also, clearly recognize the proper conduct for listening to the Dharma and listen attentively. Now, when the Bhagavan Amitabha (ʼod dpag tu med pa) was practicing the Bodhisattva path in the past, in the presence of the Tathagata Lokesvararaja (ʼjig rten dbang phyug rgyal po), he made great vows to purify his Buddha-field. As stated in the Arya-ratna-kuta-sutra (ʼphags pa dkon mchog brtsegs paʼi mdo): 'Any sentient beings who hear my name, may they always come to my pure land. Because of the fulfillment of my good vows, sentient beings will come from many world-systems. When they arrive in my pure land, they will not turn back in one lifetime.' As it is said in the sutra, through the three aspects of practice—completion, maturation, and purification—he reached the far shore of the ocean of merit. Now, he dwells in Sukhavati (bde ba can), the pure land whose qualities and adornments surpass even the combined embellishments of eighty-one hundred thousand trillion Buddha-fields. Merely hearing his name and generating a moment of faith guarantees non-retrogression from unsurpassed enlightenment and the eventual transformation of a female body into a male one. By accumulating merit and dedicating it with a strong aspiration to be reborn in that land, one will be reborn in Sukhavati immediately after death and quickly attain Buddhahood. Therefore, to this Bhagavan Buddha, whose vows and activities are wondrous, one performs prostrations, offerings, and prayers according to the Sutra tradition, while in the Tantric tradition, one practices him as the chief deity of the Padma family in the four classes of tantra, with inconceivable methods. Here, the great accomplished master Guru Rinpoche (padma sambhava) primarily relies on the Amitabha-vyuha-sutra (ʼod dpag tu med pa bkod paʼi mdo) and the Samantabhadra-pranidhana-raja (bzang po spyod paʼi smon lam), and incorporates some elements of the ritual. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
