May the flames blaze! May the excellent rain of Dharma fall! May the rain of Dharma be widely sent forth! May the Dharma drum be loudly beaten! May the great Dharma drum be loudly beaten! May the Dharma conch be blown! May the Dharma life-tree be raised high! May the Dharma lamp spread! May all sentient beings be satisfied with the gift of Dharma! Please abide for a while, allowing us to practice. May this collection of supplications be entirely dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment! Just as it is entirely dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, so too do I dedicate this root of virtue! Then, the extensive and inexhaustible dedication of merit: From beginningless time, I and all sentient beings have been wandering in samsara. Whatever roots of virtue I have manifestly accumulated, whether offered to the Buddha (佛), Dharma (法), Sangha (僧), or an individual, or even to beings in the animal realm, or any other sentient beings, even if it is just offering a single morsel of food, or whatever offerings, prayers, refuges, roots of virtue endowed with the basis of training, roots of virtue endowed with individual liberation, objects of merit with rejoicing, or roots of virtue with supplications—all of these are gathered together and measured, and with a tamed and liberated mind, without grasping, are bestowed upon all sentient beings! How should the roots of virtue be given to all sentient beings? Just as the Buddhas, the Bhagavat (世尊), know with their unobstructed Buddha-wisdom, so too do I give my roots of virtue! May all sentient beings have jewels in their hands! May they possess a sky-treasure! May they possess inexhaustible enjoyment! May they possess inexhaustible merit! May they possess inexhaustible Dharma! May they possess inexhaustible wisdom! May they possess inexhaustible eloquence! May they attain the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, the manifest perfect enlightenment, and the omniscient wisdom! May this root of virtue be completely dedicated to perfect enlightenment! Through this root of virtue, may I and all sentient beings attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and may we obtain the wisdom of omniscience! Just as the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas of the past, when practicing for enlightenment, dedicated their roots of virtue to become omniscient, so too, I dedicate my roots of virtue to become omniscient! Through this root of virtue, may I and all sentient beings attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and may we obtain the wisdom of omniscience! Just as the Bodhisattva-Mahasattvas of the future, when practicing for enlightenment, will dedicate their roots of virtue to become omniscient, so too, I dedicate my roots of virtue to become omniscient! Through this root of virtue, may I and all sentient beings attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and may we obtain the wisdom of omniscience!
