Herein lies 'The Profound Instructions on the Vajra Knot of the Immortal Life Accomplishment: The Heart Essence of the Oath-Bound Treasure, the Sealed Instructions.' The De Ling Longevity Accomplishment, Instruction Manual. Homage to the protector of the Blissful Realm (Sukhavati), the kind root guru inseparable from Amitayus (Tsepagme, Buddha of Limitless Life) and wisdom! The stages of the Immortal Life Accomplishment, the Vajra Knot, consist of three parts: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. First, the preliminary practices such as the four thoughts that turn the mind are like common Dharma. At the beginning of the session, contemplate well the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, the impermanence of death, and the infallible nature of cause and effect. Especially, the impermanence of death is such that one does not know when it will come, and when it arrives, no one can turn it back. Generate the mind that 'I do not wish for longevity or to avert obstacles for a year or two, but to attain the supreme state of immortality and become like the immortal Padmasambhava.' Then, on a lotus and moon cushion in the sky above your crown or in front of you, visualize the root guru inseparable from the protector Amitayus, whose body is red, even redder than red, like a mountain of coral embraced by a hundred thousand suns, adorned with silks and various jewels. His hands are in the gesture of meditation, holding a vase filled with the nectar of immortal life, a wish-fulfilling tree laden with flowers, fruits, and blossoms. Surrounding him are the gurus of the longevity lineage, and in short, all the gurus of the nine lineages, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the three times, the holy Dharma, the noble Sangha, the peaceful and wrathful deities of the Yidam (tutelary deity) gathered from the four or six tantras, the heroes, heroines, oath-bound protectors, and Dharma protectors with eyes of wisdom, all gathered like rainbows and light, shimmering and bright. Alternatively, as in the practice of Guru Yoga, visualize the Yidam deities in front, the Buddhas on the right, the Dharma in the back, the Sangha on the left, and the spaces in between filled with the assembly of heroes and heroines, whichever is easier to visualize. Especially, clearly visualize the root guru as inseparable from Amitayus. Namo! I take refuge in the immortal life deity! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Take refuge by reciting 'ཆི༔' (qi). I and all sentient beings, transcending all timely and untimely deaths, in order to achieve the immortal Vajra body, practice the immortal Vajra knot, thinking that all sentient beings as vast as the sky are placed in the state of immortality. Generate the mind to accomplish longevity for the benefit of all beings, etc., diligently practice in accordance with the words and meaning. The above are the two, refuge and generating Bodhicitta. Upon such a clearly visualized field of merit, again recite the assembly of immortal life deities, etc., countless deities descend, visualize even more than before, and all beings, with oneself as the main one, together with great reverence. Prostrating with comfort, softness, and agility is the antidote to pride, it is the limb of prostration. Offering the outer, inner, and secret offerings of form, sound, smell, taste, touch, etc., with actual arrangements and mentally emanated offerings, like the clouds of Samantabhadra's offerings, is the antidote to attachment, it is the limb of offering. Confessing all the sins, downfalls, and faults committed through the three doors of body, speech, and mind, and all the evil deeds done, caused to be done, and rejoiced in by others, in short, all the sins and downfalls, felt and unfelt, with strong remorse. Not concealing, not hiding, this is the antidote to hatred, it is the limb of confession. Rejoicing in the enlightened activities of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, rejoicing in the virtuous deeds practiced by oneself through body, speech, and mind, rejoicing in the virtuous deeds practiced by relatives and friends, rejoicing in the virtuous deeds done by enemies, friends, and neutrals, even rejoicing in the virtuous deeds practiced by enemies, etc., rejoicing in all the virtuous deeds done by all beings, this is the antidote to jealousy, it is the limb of rejoicing. From one's heart, emanate countless Brahma gods holding jewel mandalas in their hands, and request the Buddhas of the three times and their retinues. To turn the wheel of the Dharma, this is the antidote to ignorance, it is the limb of requesting to turn the wheel of Dharma. Also, from one's heart, emanate countless goddesses Cunda and Arhats Cunda, etc., who urge and request all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and their retinues not to pass into Nirvana, this is the antidote to wrong views, it is the limb of requesting the Buddhas to remain. In short, taking the practice of immortal life as an example, all the pure virtuous deeds done by oneself and others, without clinging to them as one's own, but for the sake of all sentient beings as vast as the sky, regarding them as kind mothers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
