Ah! The unborn (Tibetan: ཨ, 'A', meaning 'without'). A body endowed with the five wisdoms. The ultimate luminosity, indivisible. Beyond speech, thought, and expression, Emaho! (Tibetan: ཨེ་མ་ཧོ, 'Emaho', meaning 'wonderful'). Son, look at the face of your own mind! Without form, therefore separate from the object of seeing; Without sound, therefore separate from the object of hearing; Without smell, therefore separate from the object of smelling; Without taste, therefore separate from the object of tasting; Without body, therefore separate from the object of touching; Without mind, therefore separate from the object of thinking. Look at this and cut off the root! Son, look at the nature of your mind! Though looked at, it is not seen; it is emptiness; Awareness pervades everywhere; It is not something to go to; it is vast and pervasive. Examine the color and nature of the mind, Yet nothing is established; its nature is clear. Rest in the state of union of clarity and emptiness, Do not guard with self-grasping! Son, look at the nature of your mind! Naked awareness is without stain, How could the faults of samsara taint it? Without taking or leaving, Rest in the natural state, without distraction or fabrication! This empty nature of your own mind, Is the unborn Dharmakaya (法身). This clear and pure nature, Is the unceasing Sambhogakaya (报身). Unceasing, whatever arises, Is the unwavering Nirmanakaya (化身). The three bodies are the inherent power of awareness. Look at this meaning, meditate on this meaning! Son, look at the nature of your mind! Rest in the state of not seeing when looking! Examine the nature of anger, Because its nature is empty, it is free from anger, This is the mirror-like wisdom (Adarsha-jnana). Examine the nature of ignorance, Because its nature is empty, it is free from ignorance, This is the wisdom of equality (Samata-jnana). Examine the nature of desire, Because its nature is empty, it is free from desire, This is the discriminating wisdom (Pratyavekṣaṇa-jnana). Examine the nature of jealousy, Because its nature is empty, it is free from jealousy, This is the accomplishing wisdom (Kṛtyānuṣṭhāna-jnana). Examine the nature of pride, Because its nature is empty, it is free from pride, This is the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu (Dharmadhatu-jnana). The five poisons purified are the five wisdoms, They are the self-power of self-luminous emptiness. Examine this meaning, meditate on this meaning! If you achieve Buddhahood in this lifetime, You will gain mastery over the power of self-awareness! There is no fear or terror in that, What need is there to mention the cessation of suffering! This is the empowerment of words. Thereafter, establish the keeping of vows. Thereafter, clarify the essence of wisdom. The disciple offers a mandala as gratitude. This is the unsurpassed! It is the ultimate of the profound four empowerments! This key instruction is not found in other treasures! There is no need for offerings and so forth, The empowerment of the teacher and the student, Is complete in this! On the basis of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, With the four empowerments, sow the seeds of the four bodies. Abiding in Vajradhara (金刚持), Complete with the three samayas (三昧耶) of secret mantra. Even if practicing the generation and completion stages, The result will be quickly attained. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

will be fruitless. This is the unaccomplished yogi. For those who wish to engage in secret mantra activities, it is a cause for futile and evil destinies. Therefore, strive in this, may it become the glory of taming beings in the future! Samaya, seal, seal, seal! As said by Master Padmasambhava, I, like Namkhai Nyingpo, wrote this in Samye. The incarnate treasure revealer Rolpai Dorje, on the first day of the sixth month of the Water Horse year (Tibetan calendar), established the mother copy of both the Vajrasattva and peaceful deity empowerments, a blessed yellow paper, one span high and three fingers wide. (Seed Syllable: Oṃ, Devanagari: ॐ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal Meaning: Oṃ) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
