Great Treasure TD255: A Clear Exposition of the Practice of Vidyadhara Heart Drop, Condensed to its Essence Mingling Heart Drop. Practice Manual The very essence of all Victorious Ones, A dance displaying the mandala's ocean, The Lama who manifests in every form, To the indivisible Skull Garland Power, I bow. Here, entering into the outer, inner, and secret activities of the profound Dharma, Vidyadhara Heart Drop, is shown through three parts: preliminary, main practice, and concluding practice. First: In a secluded and agreeable place that is auspicious and free, perform the sweeping. Underneath a cushion with inner meaning, write a swastika (卍) turning to the right with white barley or rice. Prepare boundary markers, medicine, food, and other necessary items, and place them within the boundary. Everything should be arranged in accordance with the general practice. Begin on an auspicious and favorable day. If there is time, two or three days before starting the actual practice, cut off external activities. From the evening session of that day, with the Vidyadhara practice manual as the basis, first generate the self as the deity, offer a torma to the local deities, and entrust them with the activities. Dispel obstacles, send away obstacle tormas, burn gugul incense, and so on, dispelling obstacles with wrathful gestures. Meditate on the protective wheel to make it stable. Starting from that night or the next morning. Arouse the mind with the difficulty of finding leisure and opportunity and the impermanence of death. With a single-pointed mind determined to escape samsara, take refuge, generate bodhicitta, recite and meditate on the Hundred Syllable Mantra, and practice Guru Yoga, all as described in the instruction manual, dividing it into four or two sessions, depending on the length of time, integrating it as much as possible with your mindstream. If possible, encourage others as well. Proclaim the Dharma, offer water, recite the near-attainment mantra, ransom lives, create tsa-tsas, and so on, accumulating as much merit as possible. This is necessary to ripen the mindstream, prevent obstacles, and quickly obtain signs of accomplishment. If there is not enough time to complete everything, it will not be a fault. Then, on the evening session of the day you enter the actual practice, generate the deity, recite mantras, and offer tormas to the local deities and obstacles as before, cutting off internal activities. Visualize the Four Great Kings as a fortress, offer tormas, pray for activities, recite prayers for stability, and recite auspicious verses. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Secondly, the main practice is divided into outer, inner, and secret aspects. The first is the outer practice: In the direction you are facing, on a clean platform where supports such as statues are placed, arrange offerings such as medicine, alcohol, and consumables according to the ritual, and replenish them daily. During the retreat, it is necessary to use items that have been blessed before, without using new or unfamiliar items, and without exchanging items. For any situation, whether it is happiness or suffering, good or bad, do not have expectations or doubts, but maintain a strong sense of divine pride and recitation, and make aspirations in between each round of recitation. Do not separate from devotion to the guru and compassion for sentient beings, and firmly maintain this state of mind. If you persist in this way, enlightenment will arise naturally without effort before long. Symbolizing this, even if any accident occurs before this recitation is completed, do not be swayed by it. If you are sick, accept being sick; if you die, accept death. Although you have taken countless births in the past, they have all been meaningless. Now that you are able to practice such profound secret teachings, it is extremely fortunate. With strong devotion and longing, make great efforts so that obstacles do not arise and you can quickly attain accomplishments. Understand this. When performing the accumulation of merit through refuge, generating bodhicitta, and the seven-branch offering, do it in the usual way. Afterward, in a non-contrived state, relax and abide in the state of ultimate bodhicitta. Through the power of reciting the Sanskrit Romanization: svabhāva, Literal meaning: self-nature) mantra, all impure appearances dissolve into the dharmadhatu. Merge the mind into the sound of ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) filling the sky. In this state, visualize an indestructible vajra fence, surrounded by flames of wisdom, illuminating the entire environment. Within it, visualize the outer world transforming into a vast lotus light palace. In the center of the palace, visualize a flourishing lotus tree, and in the center of the eight-petaled lotus, visualize a red self-existing ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum) burning on a sun and moon cushion. From the ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum), rays of light emanate, awakening the primordial, indestructible essence of the vidyadhara guru within all beings. The rays of light merge into the ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum). From this complete transformation, in an instant, Padmasambhava appears, his complexion white with a reddish glow, wearing magnificent and majestic garments such as secret robes, zen robes, and a dharma hat, radiating the splendor of the major and minor marks. His right hand holds a five-pronged vajra, raised to the level of his right shoulder. His left hand holds a skull cup filled with substances of the vow, and in the center of the skull cup is a jewel vase filled with the nectar of immortality, adorned with a wish-fulfilling tree. His feet... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
