Thus begin the offering of the mandala. Then, in the actual empowerment, there are medium and brief ways, if the medium way is adopted: Please repeat this prayer: 'Hey! Vajra Lama' etc. Please repeat 'Who are you' etc. Please repeat 'We fortunate ones' etc. Please intend to perform the refuge, bodhicitta, and seven-branch offering simultaneously. Hrih! Lama Amitayus etc. From 'This is the root of blessings' etc., contemplate the emanation of immeasurable light. Hrih! The goddesses of life from the vase, etc., until 'The splendor of light blazes.' With this, bestow the vase empowerment. Life vase and life torma. From 'Appearing as Amitayus' etc., until 'May you obtain the Vajra life empowerment!' With this, bestow the empowerment of the life vase, and Hum! The unchanging Vajra, the support of life, etc. with the torma. Hum! The elements of the channels are purified etc., the two groups with life chang and life pills. Hum! The arrow is the support of the male, etc., give the arrow banner. Then, from the sun and moon gau in the hearts of you all, etc., be certain that you will attain the deathless life of a Vidyadhara! End. Recite one auspicious verse. Again, start counting from the mandala. If you prefer the brief way, then perform the torma empowerment and the oral instructions. Do not combine the vase empowerment, only perform the meaning empowerment to accumulate the number, so first perform the above extensive empowerment once, and then after offering the mandala, repeat the prayer: 'Hey! Vajradhara Lama' etc. Please repeat 'Who are you' etc. Please repeat 'We fortunate ones' etc. From 'This is the root of blessings' etc., contemplate the emanation of immeasurable light. Then, the life vase and the life torma. From 'Appearing as Amitayus' etc., until 'May you obtain the Vajra life empowerment!' Then, from the sun and moon gau in the hearts of you all, be certain. Accumulate the number up to this point. Whether you perform the extensive, brief, or accumulate the number, at the time of completion, at the end of that, recite: Hum Tra Tra Shag! Mutra Ho! Tistha Lhan! Recite a hundred or twenty-one stabilizing mantras. Then, Hum! The essence is stable etc., may you realize the meaning! Hum! Then, wave the victory banner. Recite 'Oṃ! The body of the body,' etc., up to 'Oṃ! āyurjñāna hūṃ hrīḥ,' reciting as in the ritual and scattering flowers. Visualize the longevity deity, Vidyadhara (knowledge holder), Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, etc., reciting auspicious words of truth, and raining down vajra flowers like rain. Hrīḥ! As vast as the sky, so is immortality.' etc., speak extensively of auspicious words. Again, join the palms of the hands with flowers, and request to recite this vajra truth three times. Request to begin reciting three times 'Oṃ! May it be accomplished, the vajra body,' etc. Through these, one has obtained the empowerment of the secret gathering of longevity accomplishment, the initiation that condenses the profound meaning, and the good lineage adorned with the practices of the Norbu ritual and the Torma empowerment, etc. Therefore, one should abandon the common vows of secret mantra, as well as actions such as taking life and destroying the Three Jewels. One should protect the special vows to be practiced, such as saving lives and restoring the Three Jewels, and thinking of holding Orgyen Amitayus as the Yidam (tutelary deity), then follow the recitation: 'How the main deity,' etc. To repay the kindness of obtaining the profound longevity empowerment, offer a mandala. Offer body, speech, and mind, dedicate the merits as usual, and then dismiss the disciples. In order to prevent one's own power from diminishing, if conditions permit, one should repeat the recitation of the action ritual and receive self-initiation. In any case, one should complete the ending part of the action ritual. If combined with the death ransom ritual of Chagme, then after completing the recitation of the Gau box, begin the empowerment. When reciting 'Hūṃ! From the sphere of the sky,' etc., only deliver the five Gau boxes separately, and perform the detailed empowerment as described above, and after completing the empowerment, perform the Tsog (gathering) offering and subsequent rituals. If combined with the life ransom ritual, then after completing the throwing of the Torma, begin the empowerment. Deliver the ransom sheep and other ransom objects together with the arrow banner. After completing the empowerment, perform the subsequent rituals of the action ritual. May the virtuous merit of altruistic Bodhicitta (mind of enlightenment) enable all beings to triumph over the battle of the Lord of Death. May the life of the holy being be eternal and stable, may the two benefits be perfected, like the immortal protector!
