This is the approach of approach. Visualize at the heart of the Five Skull Garland Deities (Thödphreng Rik Nga), from the crown chakra, the five syllables Oṃ (Oṃ, seed syllable, body), Āḥ (Āḥ, seed syllable, speech), Hūṃ (Hūṃ, seed syllable, mind), Traṃ (Traṃ, seed syllable, qualities), and Hrīḥ (Hrīḥ, seed syllable, activity) appearing in their respective colors. From the mantra garland at the heart, a second mantra garland arises, like a string of beads. From the junction of the deity at the throat and the deity at the crown, passing through the heart, it emerges from the mouth and flows downwards. From the secret place and the secret of the deity at the navel, passing through the heart. Absorbing into the heart of the deity at the heart, rotating continuously like a torch, blazing with the experience of bliss and emptiness. Purifying the five aggregates, the five elements, and the conceptualizations and obscurations of the five poisons. Blessed by the five bodies. Attaining the accomplishments of the five families. The realization of the five wisdoms becomes manifest. Contemplate in this way and recite, this is the near approach of approach. Visualize at the heart of the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche (Guru Tsen Gye), at the center of the union of the sun and moon, each marked with a Hrīḥ (Hrīḥ, seed syllable, activity) syllable of its own color. From the heart, which contains the heart mantra and the mantra garland, rays of light emanate, touching them and stimulating the lineage of commitment. From each of their hearts, immeasurable rays of light emanate, corresponding to their respective families, touching all the animate and inanimate objects of samsara and nirvana, and their respective activities are spontaneously accomplished. If you wish to expand it, then Padmasambhava (Padma Jungne) emits blue light, blazing with the experience of bliss and emptiness. Padma Gyalpo emits white light, expanding the appearance of the two knowledges. Pema Gyalpo emits red light, subduing the three realms. Shakya Sengge emits yellow light, destroying the armies of the four maras. Nyi Zher emits reddish-yellow light, guiding all beings to maturity and liberation. Padma Sam emits whitish-yellow light, increasing wisdom and qualities. Sengge Drog emits dark blue light, destroying demons and heretics. Grolo emits reddish-black light, taming unruly spirits and fierce evil beings. Contemplate in this way and recite, this is the practice of approach. Again, from the heart, rays of light emanate, touching all the Sugatas and the Vidyadharas (Rigdzin), causing them all to blaze with the splendor of wisdom. The collection of body, mantra garland, hand implements, and rays of light pervades the world, accomplishing the deeds of the Buddhas. Purifying the impurities of the outer vessel, transforming it into the Pure Land of Akanishta (Ogmin Dagpai Zhing). Purifying the two obscurations and habitual tendencies of the inner sentient beings, transforming forms into deities, sounds into mantras, and conceptual thoughts into clear light wisdom, into a pure and vast mandala. Contemplate in this way and recite. Or, with the light from the heart, stimulate the Six Gurus. From them, rays of light of their respective colors emanate, touching all beings of the three realms and six realms. Eliminating the six root afflictions and the corresponding... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Purify the suffering of each and every being. Through the blessings of the six wisdoms, may all vessels and contents become the body and pure land of the six types of Guru (Padmasambhava). Contemplate and recite to shake samsara from its very foundation. Again, as the rays of light from the heart strike the four Great Wrathful Ones, stimulate their minds. From them, rays of white, yellow, red, and blue light radiate, pervading the ten directions. Accomplish the four activities of pacifying, increasing, magnetizing, and subjugating without obstruction. As the rays of light gather back and dissolve into oneself, increase the strength of one's power. Contemplate and recite that the activities of the four karmas are spontaneously accomplished. These are the great practices of approach. In this way, even in approach alone, dividing the approach into approach with four branches, these stages of samadhi should also be understood in close approach and so forth. Here, regarding the number of days for approach, dividing it into four parts: the first part is approach, the second part mainly focuses on the targets of close approach and so forth. Once proficient, each session should completely fulfill the target. The third part, within the scope of mainly mentioning mindfulness, shows the three essential points of the target that are indispensable for the general generation stage. First, when the image is clear, uniting the mind, eye, and prana, focus single-pointedly on the appearance of the deity. Initially, focus on whatever part of the deity's body is clearest to produce a clear appearance. Once accustomed to that, gradually focus on the entire body, and each deity residing in the inner channels and wheels, clearly visualize their body color, hand gestures, implements, ornaments, and attire, and focus on that. These appearances are not established as real objects, but are illustrated by examples such as reflections in a mirror, the moon in water pervading everywhere, and rainbows with unmixed colors, so that they are not overly adhered to. When dull, uplift awareness and focus on the deity and mantra. When agitated, relax and release, keeping it just non-distracted, so that just as an image appears in clear water, one's own mind clearly appears as the deity's form, and knowing that this is the self-arisen deity of ultimate reality, remain in equipoise for a short time and many times, so that the clear appearance reaches its limit. Second, firm pride. Whether the deity appears clearly or not, abandon the thought of considering oneself ordinary, and firmly maintain the pride of knowing that one has been Padmakara (Padmasambhava), the primordial protector, from the very beginning, and do not separate from this in all sessions and intervals between sessions. Third, pure mindfulness. Knowing that all the qualities of the ultimate reality of the ground are inherently present, and that in this stage of the path they appear as symbols and signs of conventional reality, by training the mind, the fruit of the union of the two truths, the body and wisdom, will be manifested, this is the root. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
