Collected Teachings of Dolonatha JT264: The Ritual of the Mandala of the Five Protective Dharanis, Dispelling All Obstacles. 13-391 ༄༅། །The Ritual of the Mandala of the Five Protective Dharanis, Dispelling All Obstacles. ༄༅། །The Ritual of the Mandala of the Five Protective Dharanis, Dispelling All Obstacles. ༄༅། །Om Svasti! Homage to the Buddha! This is called "The Ritual of the Mandala of the Five Protections, Dispelling All Obstacles." Homage to the Bhagavati Matrika! Victorious Teacher Shakya Simha, and all the Vidyadharas, I respectfully bow down. Here, I will explain the profound meaning of the Sutra of the Five Protective Dharanis, and the essence of the practical ritual. This is a practice within the Kriya Tantra of the Secret Mantra Vajrayana, belonging to the Tathagata family among the six families. Among the many divisions within that, it belongs to the Tantra section of the family goddesses. These are the Great Destroyer of Emptiness, the Great Peacock, the Matrika, the Secret Mantra Follower, and the Great Cool Grove. These five are known as the Five Protections or the Five Dharani Groups. The source for combining these five is clear in the concluding part of the Great Destroyer and the central part of the Matrika. Therefore, although they are explained in different tantras and can be practiced separately, meditating and practicing them together is most excellent. Although there is also a special mandala described in the "Yoga Garland," here, relying on the sadhana of the all-knowing, peaceful source of jewels of the degenerate age, and based on the unbroken oral instructions of the Lotsawas and Panditas, and the many writings of the previous lamas, I will write this down. First, the preliminary torma. Purify with OM AMRITE HUM PHAT. Cleanse with OM SVABHAVA SHUDDHA SARVA DHARMA SVABHAVA SHUDDHO 'HAM. From emptiness, within a vast and expansive vessel of jewels arising from BHRUM (藏文:བྷྲཱུཾ,梵文天城体:भ्रूम,梵文罗马拟音:bhrūṃ,汉语字面意思:seed syllable), the torma arising from OM (藏文:ༀ,梵文天城体:ॐ,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:Om) transforms into a great ocean of all desires. NAMAH SARVA TATHAGATA BHYO VISHVA MUKHE BHYAH SARVA THA KHAM UDGATE SAPHARANA IMAM GAGANA KHAM SVAHA. Recite three times. All the hosts of beings of the three realms, come to the place of receiving the torma. AKARSHAYA JA OM AKARO MUKHAM 13-392 SARVA DHARMANAM ADYA NUTPANNATVATA OM AH HUM PHAT SVAHA. Recite seven times.

Offering the Torma with Na. Om Vajra Argham Svaha. (ༀ་བཛྲ་ཨརྒྷཾ་སྭཱཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra arghaṃ svāhā, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Offering, Svaha.) Om Vajra Puspe Ah Hum. (ༀ་བཛྲ་པུཥྤེ་ཨཱཿཧཱུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra puṣpe āḥ hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Flower, Ah, Hum.) Offer from "Na" to "Shapta." To the yogi, myself and retinue. From "May all wishes of the mind be fulfilled," pray for the desired purpose. Engaging in activities with prose, similar to the general practice. Accompanied by the sound of musical instruments, discard the torma in a clean place. Generally, for independent action practices, blessing the place is not necessary. However, for this type of practice that aligns with the higher tantras, it is good to do so. Therefore, bless the place: Purify with Amrita (ཨ་མྲྀ་ཏས་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: amṛta, Literal Chinese meaning: Ambrosia), purify with Svabhava (སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝས་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: svabhāva, Literal Chinese meaning: Self-nature). From emptiness, the place arises from the syllable Bhrum (བྷྲཱུཾ་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: bhrūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Bhrum), becoming a square mansion with four doors and four stairways, made of various jewels, in the center of which all qualities are fully complete. Within the vast and spacious jewel vessels arising from Om (ༀ་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om). Again, arising from Om (ༀ་, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om), various offerings such as water for drinking, water for washing feet, flowers, incense, lamps, perfume, food, and music, the wisdom of non-duality, appearing as clouds of offerings, the function of which is to satisfy all deities of the natural world and the world beyond with the great bliss of non-contamination, entering without interruption in time and space, like the clouds of offerings arising from the liberation of Samantabhadra. Om Vajra Argham Svaha. (ༀ་བཛྲ་ཨརྒྷཾ་སྭཱཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra arghaṃ svāhā, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Offering, Svaha.) Similarly, water for washing feet. Om Vajra Puspe Ah Hum. (ༀ་བཛྲ་པུཥྤེ་ཨཱཿཧཱུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra puṣpe āḥ hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Flower, Ah, Hum.) Similarly, incense, light, perfume, food. Om Vajra Shapta Ah Hum. (ༀ་བཛྲ་ཤཔྟ་ཨཱཿཧཱུཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra śapta āḥ hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Sound, Ah, Hum.) Om Vajra Spharana Kham. (ༀ་བཛྲ་སྥ་ར་ཎ་ཁཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ vajra sphāraṇa khaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, Vajra, Spread, Empty.) Om Sarva Vid Pura Pura Sura Sura Avartaya Avartaya Hoh Namah Sarva Tathagata Bhyo Viso Mukhe Bhyah. (ༀ་སརྦ་བིད་པཱུ་ར་པཱུ་ར་སུ་ར་སུ་ར་ཨ་བརྟ་ཡ་ཨ་བརྟ་ཡ་ཧོཿ ན་མཿསརྦ་ཏ་ཐཱ་ག་ཏ་བྷྱོ་བི་ཤོ་མུ་ཁེ་བྷྱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ sarva vid pūra pūra sura sura āvartaya āvartaya hoḥ namaḥ sarva tathāgata bhyo viśo mukhe bhyaḥ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om, All, Know, Fill, Fill, God, God, Turn, Turn, Hoh. Homage, All, Thus Gone, To, Pure, Face, To.) Etc., like the long mantra of the treasury of space as before. Recite these three mantra sections three times each, accompanied by great musical instruments. Namo Bhagavate Vajra Sara Pramardhanaye Tathagataya Arhate Samyaksambuddhaya Tadyatha. Om Vajre Vajre Maha Vajre Maha Teja Vajre Maha Bodhicitta Vajre Maha Bodhimanda Upasamkrame 13-393 Sarva Karma Avarana Visodhani Svaha. Taking refuge and generating bodhicitta are the same as usual, and "with the intention to liberate beings," etc., or "Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, the supreme ones."
