Evolved from the word "Apta," the Buddha spoke thus, and the retinue fully understood, fully attained, that is the meaning. Like this, Marpa's and Ngokpa's sayings, after fully and completely narrating them, from Shantipa's and Krishnacharya's commentaries, slightly extracting some good points, Jñanasri's and Ajitamitra's commentaries, compared to the previous ones, do not show particularly outstanding advantages. Also adorned with many special Indian instructions, furthermore, the texts of this very [tantra] that have appeared in both China and Tibet, the meanings of almost all that are possessed in this region have been understood and narrated. Here it is said: Krishnacharya's commentary is a teaching to students, Shantipa's work is a good teaching to the assembly, the gathering of the siddhas' intentions is Marpa's instruction, the good teaching of the mantra tradition, these three have been heard, adorned with the essence of Shanti Bhadra's instruction. The Chinese and Tibetan texts that rely on this tantra, almost all that are available in this region have also been seen. This is the commentary that gathers all profound and vast [meanings]. Instructions are not a place for debate, especially, for the mantra practitioners, if one were to elaborate too much, what would be the point? What is particularly important is mind training, from the mind arises the complete Buddha. Keeping these meanings in mind, I will not elaborate too much. Now let us examine something else, here some people rely solely on the sound of teaching to the assembly, merely piling up words, because it is separated from the instructions, 11-446 therefore it is meaningless. Those who say these things are only exposing themselves, because both the ways of teaching to the assembly and to students are the ways of teaching spoken by the Buddha himself. If it were to change in that way, then the Buddha would become someone who distorts the meaning of the tantra. Isn't that going too far? Those commentaries on the tantra made by scholars with arrogant pride, are merely their own conceptualizations, not teachings to the assembly or to students at all. In the teachings to the assembly, there are also many that reveal the ultimate meaning, although they mainly reveal the conventional meaning, but for those who seek the supreme meaning of liberation, they are all absolutely necessary, emptiness, compassion, vows, and the generation stage, etc., are all part of its meaning. If the teachings to the assembly have no meaning, then for the secret mantra

There are also places suitable for practice. If there is a gathering for teaching, and it is adorned by teaching it to students, then, the supreme method of accomplishment will be found. This is how it should be understood. At the end of the book, it says: The Indian Abbot Anila Vajra and the Tibetan translator Go Lhatse translated, revised, and finalized it. This is the colophon. Even in the translation by the translator Go Khukpa himself, there are differences in the translation made in the presence of Pandit Jinavarma and Shantibhadra. However, in this lineage, the previously mentioned translation is mainly adopted, and this is also the later translation by Go. This translation also has some traces of electrical correction, and later others have also been seen to modify it. However, the Go translation itself is more substantial and appears better. Words like Vajra, similar to Vajra. After distinguishing this which is difficult to distinguish, May all beings who go to the place of the unsurpassed Guru reside there. The glorious Vajra Playful Woman, After obtaining the given sign, Even a foolish mind has made a commentary. To that, may the noble ones be patient. The root tantra king is concise in words and rich in meaning. Seeing that it is now nearing its decline in this direction, For the sake of increasing the wisdom of some fortunate ones, This extensive commentary is also meaningful. This work, called "The Lamp of Reality, an Extensive Commentary on the Glorious Great Illusory Tantra," is to awaken my own memory, and considering that there may be some fortunate ones who are devoted to this tantra now or will appear in the future, I think it is very beneficial to them. Therefore, Tāranātha of Gyalkhampa, at the age of thirty-four, on the fifteenth day of the Saga month, wrote it in the auspicious Jomo Nang Temple. May auspiciousness and virtue increase! Mangalam!
