This work, entitled "The Jewel Lamp, a Ritual Manual for the Mandala of Mahamaya," was composed by Jampa Ngawang Kunga at the urging of Vajradhara Jampa Ngawang Kunga. It is said that the Chinese texts are difficult to understand, and some lineages have been interrupted. Those who are learned and accomplished in this tradition, who have come to this place and composed works, are somewhat uncomfortable expressing themselves. Some scholars have compiled various versions, but the essence of the blessings has been interrupted. Clear texts with oral instructions have not been seen elsewhere. Therefore, I have made some effort to follow the texts and oral instructions as they are. There are four Chinese ritual manuals for Mahamaya. The one with a clear sequence of rituals is the translation of the translator Zhonnu Tsultrim. Many old copies of this translation do not have a colophon. Some say that it was composed by Kukkuripa. Mar and Ngok also hold this view. In fact, it is certain that it is Kukkuripa's actual teachings or an accurate transmission of his teachings. Some say that it was composed by Krishnacharya, considering that the ritual sections are more in line with the condensed ritual manual. There are also rituals composed by Shripada and blessed by Dulwa. There is a translation of the initiation ritual said to have been composed by Kukkuripa himself, but it is certain that it was not composed by Kukkuripa. Among the types of Indian accomplishment mandalas, there are those composed before King Dharmapala, then those between the Six Gates, then those between Abhaya, and then those that appeared later. If one understands that the writing styles of the texts of these four periods are different, then the one with a clear sequence belongs to the first type. The others belong to the third type. Therefore, the root ritual manual of Mahamaya belongs to this sequence. There are also instructions for listening and teaching, so it has a lineage of blessings. Here, the practices and supplements of the previous lineage masters, such as the Hevajra, which are mixed with oral instructions, have been discarded, and those that do not conform to this text have been discarded, and it has been arranged in a pure manner.
