The Quintessence of the Four Mudras: A Clear and Definitive Essence 11-248 ༄༅། །The Quintessence of the Four Mudras: A Clear and Definitive Essence. The Quintessence of the Four Mudras: A Clear and Definitive Essence. ༄༅། །Namo Vajradharaya (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: नमो वज्रधराय, Sanskrit Romanization: Namo Vajradharaya, Literal Chinese Meaning: Homage to Vajradhara). By the grace of whose feet, even from samsara, nirvana is attained. May the lotus feet of the Lama be firmly fixed in our hearts. {To that end,} here, the essential practice of the definitive meaning of the Shri Hevajra Tantra, the oral instructions of the great accomplished Byadali. This much comes from the sacred words of the Lama. To summarize the supreme and complete stages of the Tantra's meaning: it is to bring the life-force into the dūti, and having entered, to cultivate unchanging bliss and to stabilize it. In the first case as well, the means of bringing the life-force into the central channel is to cultivate the mind abiding in the central channel path, and the actual means of bringing the two paths into the dūti through the path of peace. The order of practicing the first of these is: with the body in a comfortable posture, all appearances and sounds represented by one's five aggregates, {one} contemplates entering into emptiness, reciting Oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'haṃ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: Oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho 'haṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om, purity of nature, all dharmas, purity of nature, I), and from within emptiness, in an instant, in the center of a vast pure realm, in the sky in front of oneself, on a lion throne, a lotus, and a solar disc, the root Lama, the yidam Hevajra, with a blue body, the right hand holding aloft an angry vajra, the left hand holding a lotus vessel filled with a continuous stream of naturally arising flowers at the heart, holding a white khaṭvāṅga in the crook of the arm, the left leg bent, the right leg extended, pressing down the four maras, adorned with six bone ornaments, wearing a tiger skin, adorned with a garland of skulls, visualize him residing in the midst of blazing flames, and with one-pointed devotion, pray as follows: You know all my happiness and suffering. Whether it is happiness or suffering, there is no other than you. Thus, mentally create flowers and other offerings, offering immeasurable offerings, and sometimes transforming the body into nectar and offering it. Recite Oṃ āḥ hūṃ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: Oṃ āḥ hūṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: Om Ah Hum). Thus it is said.

It is also said: "Emptiness is not in your body. Without flesh, bones, and blood, your body is a vajra body. May I also become like that." Due to saying this, the assembly of gurus, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas, with offerings and reverence, transformed into a form of light, entered through the nostrils, and arrived at the heart. Then, visualizing oneself as the joyful Vajra body, from the crown of the head to the secret place, the nadi Avadhuti, black or blue in color, extremely subtle, aligned with the heart residing in emptiness, the guru and one's own mind inseparable, in the Dharmodaya, visualizing the syllable Vaṃ or a white round bindu like a Kunda flower, radiating five-colored light, and then single-pointedly dwelling slightly on that. Due to the sound of Hūṃ resounding like thunder from Vaṃ, all appearances and sounds dissolve like mercury, merging into oneself. Oneself merges into the central channel, the central channel merges into the Dharmodaya, the Dharmodaya merges into the syllable Vaṃ, and the syllable Vaṃ also purifies into emptiness like a rainbow disappearing in the sky. At that time, dwell without any object of focus. First, one should repeatedly practice such a method, which is the method of settling the mind. Then, the actual practice of inserting prana into the central channel is that it must be practiced by possessing six key points, namely the key point of the outer body, the key point of the inner nadi, the key point of time, the key point of bindu, the key point of prana, and the key point of the object of focus, these six key points. The order of practicing these key points is that, up to the point of the guru dissolving into the heart in the form of light, it is as before. Then, the key point of the body is the legs in the vajra posture of the life-supporting tree, the hands forming the three-pointed jewel mudra, placed on the thighs. The spine is straightened, the neck is slightly bent, and the eyes gaze at the tip of the nose. Then, visualizing oneself as a clear deity, in the center of the body, the central channel and the Dharmodaya are visualized as before, or visualizing the colors of the inside of the Dharmodaya, white on the left, green on the right, black in the back, the colors of the outside, red on the left, blue on the right, yellow in the back, and in it visualizing the syllable Vaṃ or a white bindu like an upright stick, radiating five-colored light, and then constantly reciting E-Vaṃ with the mind, and sometimes also reciting it with the voice.
