There are many examples of appearances in the world, such as illusions, dreams, mirages of wild animals, cities of Gandharvas (梵文:Gandharva,意为天乐神), heat haze, and reflections of the moon in water. If 'transformation of the basis' (梵文:āśraya-parāvṛtti,意为basis transformation) refers to initially being impure and later becoming pure, thus having the nature of change, then, although the essence is pure from the beginning, it is obscured by adventitious stains and cannot appear. When it is free from stains and appears clearly, it can be used as an example of 'transformation of the basis'. This example is very apt because the inherent nature of the sky is pure from the beginning, the inherent nature of gold is excellent from the beginning, and the inherent nature of water is clear from the beginning, but they are obscured by clouds, rust, and turbidity and cannot appear. When they are free from these obscurations, they appear well. Finally, the author's colophon: Dharma, etc. Translator's colophon: Although there is prose translated by Rngog Lhos, because the difference is not great, and the words and verses seem awkward, it was translated by Paṇḍita Mahā-jana (梵文:Paṇḍita Mahā-jana,意为great scholar), the great being, and the translator Zha ma Sengye Gyal. Knowing the root of what to accept and reject, saṃsāra and nirvāṇa; understanding the means of entering and leaving the two truths, and their characteristics; the contents extensively taught by the Buddhas in the sūtras; this has been condensed into this treatise by the successor of the Victorious One; this treatise is concise, clear in meaning, and easy to understand; it is the light of good explanation emanating from the jewel of wisdom, the sun of intelligence. May this virtue please all beings and the compassionate protector! May I also engage in teaching, debating, writing, and practice in all fields of knowledge, especially in the inner science that constantly bestows happiness, both sūtra and tantra; and especially in the garden of the Mahāyāna path! This was written on the twenty-fifth day of the tenth month of the Earth Ox year at Dungtok Lhakhang in Sikkim. May auspiciousness increase! Mangalam! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
