English version: ‘Give (Ti, Sanskrit: to give), should turn the Dharma wheel (Dharmacakra, symbol of the Buddha's teachings), for the benefit of all beings, for the peace and well-being of all beings, for the compassion towards all beings, for the righteous benefit of all beings, and for the merits created by gods, humans, Śrāvakas (those who attain enlightenment by hearing the Buddha's teachings), Pratyekabuddhas (those who attain enlightenment independently), and Bodhisattvas (those who aspire to become Buddhas for the benefit of all beings), I rejoice in all of them. Now, the Buddhas in the ten directions have attained Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi (Unsurpassed Perfect Enlightenment), are now turning the Dharma wheel, now lighting the Dharma torch, now striking the Dharma drum, now blowing the Dharma conch, now erecting the Dharma banner, now using the Dharma to provide sufficiently for all beings, benefiting all beings, bringing peace and well-being to all beings, showing compassion to the world, righteously benefiting all humans and gods. Whatever merits are created by those Śrāvakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Mahāyāna practitioners, I rejoice in all of them, with the foremost rejoicing, even to the unequalled rejoicing.’ ‘Śāriputra (one of the Buddha's ten great disciples, known for his wisdom)! This is called the accumulation of rejoicing merits. With this accumulation of rejoicing merits, if good men and good women perform this merit, the result of this merit is countless and immeasurable. Śāriputra! If all beings in the three thousand great thousand worlds, even beings in worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River, all exhaust their outflows and become Arhats (saints who have eradicated all defilements and attained liberation), if there are good men and good women who offer them the four requisites throughout their lives, if good men and good women rejoice in merits in this way, it surpasses the merit of that offering immeasurably. Therefore, Śāriputra! If good men and good women desire to attain Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, they should rejoice; if women desire to obtain a male body, they should rejoice.’ At that time, Śāriputra said to the Buddha: ‘The World Honored One has spoken of rejoicing, for the light of present and future Bodhisattvas, how should we request (the Buddha) to turn the Dharma wheel?’ The Buddha told Śāriputra: ‘If good men and good women desire to attain Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, whether they are of the Śrāvakayāna, Pratyekabuddhayāna, Mahāyāna, or other beings, they should, during the six periods of the day and night, bare their right shoulder, place their right knee on the ground, respectfully join their palms, and say these words: ‘I pay homage to all the Buddhas, World Honored Ones, the Buddhas in the ten directions who have now attained Anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi and are now turning the Dharma wheel. I have already paid homage to those Buddhas, I now request (the Buddhas) to turn the Dharma wheel,’ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

English version: 'May all the Buddhas, World Honored Ones, turn the Wheel of Dharma (Dharmacakra), may they light the lamp of Dharma, may they open the Dharma eye, may they ignite the torch of Dharma, may they raise the cloud of Dharma, may they blow the conch of Dharma (Dharmasankha), may they beat the drum of Dharma (Dharmabheri), may they erect the banner of Dharma (Dharmadhvaja), for the benefit of all beings, for the peace of all beings, for compassion towards the world, to benefit all gods and humans with righteousness!' Sariputra (Sariputra, one of the ten great disciples of the Buddha)! Day and night, six times, baring the right shoulder, placing the right knee on the ground, respectfully joining palms, say these words: 'I pay homage to all the Buddhas, World Honored Ones. If the Buddhas of the ten directions wish to enter Nirvana (Nirvana, cessation), I shall urge those Buddhas to abide in the world for a long time, for the benefit of all beings, for the peace of all beings, with compassion for the world, to benefit all gods and humans with righteousness. I perform this entreaty for the sake of Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi (Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment)!' 'Sariputra! This is called the assembly of entreaty. The merit gained by good men and good women from this assembly of entreaty is immeasurable. Sariputra! If good men and good women were to fill the three thousand great thousand worlds with the seven treasures and offer them to the Tathagata, the merit of the previous entreaty by good men and good women surpasses this merit immeasurably. Sariputra! If worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River were filled with the seven treasures and offered to all the Buddhas, the merit of the previous entreaty by good men and good women surpasses this merit immeasurably. Thus, I entreat for Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. Sariputra! This is called the assembly of entreaty. With this assembly of entreaty, if good men and good women make entreaties now, their merit is inconceivable. Why is that? Sariputra! I first cultivated the Bodhi path, and I have thus entreated all the Buddhas to turn the Wheel of Dharma. With this merit, I attained Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi. Indra (Indra, king of the gods), the lord of the Saha World (Saha World, the world we live in), Brahma (Brahma, the creator god), and others also entreated me to turn the Wheel of Dharma, for the great benefit and peace of the world, and even to benefit all gods and humans with righteousness. Sariputra! I first entreated all the Tathagatas to abide in the Dharma for a long time. Because of this root of merit, I obtained the Ten Powers (Dasabala, the ten powers of the Buddha), the Four Fearlessnesses (Caturvaisharadya, the four fearlessnesses of the Buddha), the Eighteen Uncommon Qualities (Astaadasa-avenika-dharma, the eighteen unique qualities of the Buddha), the Four Unobstructed Eloquences (Catur-pratisamvid, the four unobstructed eloquences), great loving-kindness, and great compassion. I have entered' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 泥洹,我法当久住!”

English version: ‘After my Nirvāṇa (extinction, cessation of suffering), my Dharma (teachings) should abide for a long time!’ At that time, Śāriputra (one of the ten principal disciples of the Buddha, known for his wisdom) said to the Buddha: ‘World Honored One! How should good men and good women who wish to attain anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi (unsurpassed, complete and perfect enlightenment), whether they are of the Śrāvakayāna (the Vehicle of Hearers), the Pratyekabuddhayāna (the Vehicle of Solitary Buddhas), the Mahāyāna (the Great Vehicle), or other beings, dedicate their roots of good to all-knowing wisdom (sarvajñatā, omniscience)?’ At that time, the Buddha told Śāriputra: ‘If good men and good women wish to attain anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, whether they are of the Śrāvakayāna, the Pratyekabuddhayāna, the Mahāyāna, or other beings, they should, during the six periods of the day and night, bare their right shoulder, place their right knee on the ground, respectfully join their palms, and say thus: ‘Whatever meritorious roots of good I have accumulated in beginningless saṃsāra (cycle of birth and death), whether towards the Buddha, or towards the Dharma (teachings), or towards the Saṃgha (community), or towards one person, even giving a handful of food to an animal, or repentance, or exhortation, or rejoicing, or taking refuge in the Three Jewels (triratna, Buddha, Dharma, and Saṃgha), the merit of receiving precepts, all combined, I dedicate to all beings, just as the Buddhas, the World Honored Ones (Bhagavān, the Blessed One), dedicate their present wisdom and unattached wisdom to all beings, so do I dedicate to all beings. Like holding a precious jewel in hand and giving it to all, like clouds raining down and benefiting all, endlessly and without diminishing, for the wealth and nobility of beings without diminishing, for merit without diminishing, for Dharma without diminishing, for wisdom without diminishing, for eloquence without diminishing, for anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, for attaining all-knowing wisdom, I give this merit to beings, all combined, dedicating it to anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, with this root of good may all beings also attain anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, attain all-knowing wisdom. ‘Just as the past Bodhisattvas (beings striving for enlightenment) cultivated roots of good for Bodhi (enlightenment), cultivated dedication for all-knowing wisdom; so do I, dedicate to all-knowing wisdom, with this root of good I shall attain anuttarā-samyak-saṃbodhi, attain all-knowing wisdom. Just as the future Bodhisattvas will cultivate dedication of roots of good for all-knowing wisdom; so do I, with dedication of roots of good for all-knowing wisdom. Just as the present Bodhisattvas cultivate roots of good for all-knowing wisdom; so do I, dedicate’ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
