English version Chapter Three: The Method of Medicine for Love and Joy Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, again out of compassion for sentient beings, spoke of the method of medicine for love and joy, causing those who see it to generate joyful hearts. After the ingredients are harmonized and carried on the body, one will achieve supreme success, and all wishes will be fulfilled: Bezoar (a precious medicinal material), White Sandalwood (a fragrant wood), Turmeric (a spice), Borneol (a fragrance), Musk (a fragrance), Nutmeg (a spice), Clove (a spice), Kakura (a spice), Lotus (Lotus flower), Blue Lotus (Blue Lotus flower), Gold Leaf (Gold flakes). Take equal parts of each of the above medicines, and mix them with an equal amount of white honey. Recite the previous mantra one thousand eight hundred times. Use incense to fumigate the body or clothing, or apply it to the eyelids, or dot it on the forehead, or when applying it to the body. If facing kings, consorts, princes, officials, palace staff, men, women, etc., they will love and rejoice, respect this Dharma, and generate Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment). They will not spare their physical strength or wealth, and will be willing to give it away, serving as attendants, the benefits of which are inexhaustible. Like the sun and moon, everyone will want to see them. All matters can be successfully accomplished. If a person carries this medicine, their karmic obstacles will be eliminated, and all calamities will be liberated. Even if encountering the forceful seizure by the power of a king, being swept away by floods, burned by fire, various injuries from knives and staffs, all kinds of poisons, and the bondage of imprisonment, all afflictions will be liberated. One only needs a sincere heart. However, this medicine must not be casually taken internally, because it is poisonous. Chapter Four: Avalokiteśvara's Cintamani (Wish-Fulfilling Wheel) Containing Medicine Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, out of compassion for sentient beings, again spoke of a mouth-held medicine to cause all to love and rejoice. Borneol (a fragrance), Musk (a fragrance), Turmeric (a spice), finely grind and mix with Bezoar (a precious medicinal material). Recite each of the above three mantras one thousand eight hundred times, and mix with pure water. Make pills the size of tung tree seeds. Recite the three mantras again, each one hundred eight times. Dry in the shade, do not expose to wind or sun. For each pill, recite the previous three mantras seven times each, then place one pill in the mouth. If speaking with kings, ministers, the masses, or any kind of person, they will immediately generate respect, and will not spare their wealth. Whatever is needed, everyone will be willing to give. Whatever is said, all will believe and accept. Whatever is desired, all will be fulfilled. When placing the medicine in the mouth, one must constantly recite the mantra. Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva will grant their wish. English version: Place the altar in the center. For grass, trees, and flowers, seek only what is obtainable. Burn white sandalwood incense and place the previously prepared pills in the altar. Erect four pillars, hang white curtains to cover the altar, and suspend four white banners. Make offerings to Avalokiteśvara (Guanshiyin Bodhisattva). Then, recite the Heart Mantra and the Heart-Center Mantra one hundred and eight times each. Recite the Body Mantra one hundred and eight times, then burn white sandalwood incense and scatter flowers. At this time, all wishes will be granted. Take the medicine from the altar and carry it with you. Wherever you go, whatever you desire will be obtained. Whatever you say will be believed and accepted. All things will be accomplished, except if you are not sincere. The Fifth Chapter on Guanshiyin's Heart-Wheel Eye Medicine At that time, Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva, out of compassion for all beings, spoke of the method for making eye medicine, so that all who see it will generate love and joy. Manshi Jia, Jushe, red lotus (red lotus), blue lotus (blue lotus), seawater powder, or cuttlefish powder, bezoar, turmeric (turmeric), Han turmeric, Piper longum (Piper longum), pepper, dried ginger. Grind and sift the above ingredients in equal parts. If there is one ounce of the medicine, add half an ounce each of musk and borneol, and grind finely. Mix these medicines in front of the image of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva. Recite each of the preceding three mantras one thousand eight hundred times. Generate compassion towards all beings. Place this medicine at the feet of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva. Then touch it, and it can be used by dipping a copper rod into the medicine and applying it to the corner of the eye. It cures all diseases of the eye corner: corneal opacity (corneal opacity), white halo (white halo), tearing, pterygium (pterygium), blurred vision, and headaches. Apply this medicine to the eye once a day. All eye diseases will be eliminated and cured. Use it for two days to cure all diseases in the body. Use it for three days to cure eighty-four types of epilepsy. Use it for four days, and all internal and external obstacles will not be able to hinder you. Use it for five days, and you will gain victory in all conflicts with enemies, thieves, weapons, and battles. Use it for six days, and all evil karma, afflictions, the four grave offenses, the five rebellious acts, nightmares, and poisonous curses will be destroyed, and you will ultimately not fall into the three evil realms. Use it for seven days, and the king, ministers, and all the masses will follow, respect, believe, accept, and love you. Use it for fourteen days, and you will attain great freedom. Use it for twenty-one days, and you will be able to closely meet with the king and ministers. Use it for twenty-eight days, and all Yakshas (Yakshas) and their retinues will serve you.
