If it can be accepted, and it is secret, that is, hidden. Or, the first two verses specifically target the object of exchange—the harmer, similar to 'combination'. The third verse shows that without exception, all sentient beings are the object of exchange, thus demonstrating the actual action of benefiting sentient beings. It can also be explained as: if one does not initially train to counteract the harmer, then one cannot train without exception. Third, explaining the precepts of accumulating virtuous Dharmas is divided into three aspects: the meaning of necessity, the meaning of summary, and the meaning of words. First, in the chapters of the previous two precepts, in order to avoid the practitioner (བྱང་སེམས་, Bodhisattva) himself, the sentient beings to be tamed, and the precepts to be practiced, all being bound by concepts, therefore this eighth verse is spoken. If the three aspects of subject, object, and action are bound by the concepts of nominalistic attachment, they will not become the cause of perfect Buddhahood. The meaning of summary is that this verse can be applied not only to ultimate Bodhicitta but also to the accumulation of virtuous Dharmas, because to generate the wisdom that realizes emptiness, one must accept listening, thinking, and meditating on the numerous virtuous Dharmas of the Buddha's teachings. Third, the meaning of the words is that all the three aspects of subject, object, and action that need to be purified, which have just been mentioned, should be purified with the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating, which understands all Dharmas as illusory, without being contaminated by the defilements to be purified—the concepts of the eight worldly concerns, so that the practitioner can realize the Dharmakaya that is liberated from the bondage of the three wheels of subject, object, and action. For this meaning, cultivate through extensive explanation, as it is said in the scriptures: 'View all Dharmas as dreams (ཆོས་རྣམས་རྨི་ལམ་ལྟ་བུར་བསམ།),' which shows that the object of attachment is unattainable as it appears; 'Examine the nature of unborn awareness (མ་སྐྱེས་རིག་པའི་གཤིས་ལ་དཔྱད།),' which shows that although there is a subject of attachment appearing, it should also be examined with reason that it is unattainable; 'The antidote itself is also self-liberated (གཉེན་པོ་ཉིད་ཀྱང་རང་སར་གྲོལ།),' which shows that as the wisdom that determines the non-duality of subject and object, it cannot withstand rational examination, therefore it is self-liberated; 'The essence is placed in the ground of all (ངོ་བོ་ཀུན་གཞིའི་ངང་ལ་བཞག),' some lecturers explain this sentence incorrectly, but in fact, it is very subtle, because the first three verses are about listening and thinking, and this verse is about practicing. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This demonstrates how to settle in equanimity. This does not need to be explained at the level of the Alaya-vijñana (kun gzhi'i rnam shes) (Tibetan, Sanskrit: Ālayavijñāna, Romanized Sanskrit: ālayavijñāna, Literal Chinese meaning: storehouse consciousness), because as it is said: 'The various grounds are the Alaya, the Sugata-garbha (bde gshegs snying po) (Tibetan, Sanskrit: Tathāgatagarbha, Romanized Sanskrit: tathāgatagarbha, Literal Chinese meaning: womb of the Thus Come One) is also virtuous.' Therefore, the equanimity wisdom of each of the ten grounds and the recognition of the essence of the Bliss-Gone One are explained at the level of the wisdom of the Alaya. Do not doubt that the term 'wisdom of the Alaya' is not mentioned in the scriptures, because the Venerable Asanga (Thogs med zhabs) quoted the scripture that proves the Alaya: 'The realm of beginningless time is the place of all dharmas.' Because consciousness cannot be the beginningless realm, and it is necessary to divide the eight consciousnesses and their retinues into two parts, realm and wisdom, this exists clearly as the root of the explanation in the writings of the Victorious Vimalamitra (rgyal ba ma pham pa) and their commentaries. Here I say: In the snowy land of Tibet, the Bodhicitta (byang chub sems) (Tibetan, Sanskrit: Bodhicitta, Romanized Sanskrit: bodhicitta, Literal Chinese meaning: mind of enlightenment) of exchanging self and others is called Mind Training (blo sbyong), and the tradition of this teaching initially came from this text. The direct meaning of this text is easy to understand, and explaining it is not difficult, but to gather and organize the concise meanings from the great chariot tradition, and to avoid repetition, to include the teachings of aspiration with thought, and the practice of the Six Perfections (pha rol phyin drug) (Tibetan, Sanskrit: Ṣaṭpāramitā, Romanized Sanskrit: ṣaṭpāramitā, Literal Chinese meaning: six perfections) and other teachings, with concise explanations elaborated through commentaries, is not something everyone can do. Employing the talent of analysis and drawing upon the intentions of many texts to combine them. This work, entitled 'The Great Vehicle Mind Training: A Clear Explanation of the Three Meanings of the Eight Verses,' was written at the request of many virtuous spiritual friends, by the glorious Shakya Chokden Drime Lekpai Lo (dpal shAkya mchog ldan dri med legs pa'i blos) at the great monastery of Langri Tang (glang ri thang), and the scribe was Kongton Chokyi Gyaltsen Palsangpo (rkong ston chos kyi rgyal mtshan dpal bzang po).
