Auspicious! I prostrate to the perfectly enlightened Buddha! The spiritual friend Sangye Gyatso (Ocean of Buddha) will now speak, Answering the questions of the disciples about how much the perfectly enlightened Buddha knows. There are three points here: one's own view, The refutation after others' examination, And you, the yogi, An analysis of the way of answering. First, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, The way of knowing is not different. The way of knowing how much, the Shravaka Vehicle (Nyanthö) And the Great Vehicle (Thegchenpo) are divided into two. The first view is that the true, Conventional reality, the Buddha Sees and knows, because All of this exists nominally. The Great Vehicle unanimously believes that, What appears as the duality of grasper and grasped, Is all due to ignorance As clearly stated in the scriptures. Therefore, below the Tenth Ground (Sa Chu), What appears in the various consciousnesses (Nampar She), For the perfectly enlightened Buddha, It does not appear like others, Because the duality of grasper and grasped has disappeared, And only non-dual wisdom (Yeshe) exists. The second is the refutation by others: The sutras say that all sentient beings, Abide in the realm of seeing (Zigs pa), If it is said that this contradicts the scriptures, Then, precisely because the sutras say that, The Buddha constantly abides in Suchness (Yangdag Tha Nyi), So one can only see the Dharma-nature (Chö Nyi). If this is admitted, it contradicts conventional appearances. Regarding this, the later people of the Land of Snows (Gangchen, referring to Tibet), For those who cling to the two truths (Dhen Gnyi) as having different entities, And have eliminated all defilements, Say that the two truths appear simultaneously. Those who say such things, In the scriptures they believe in, it is said that the Dharmakaya (Chö Kyi Ku), Is like burning all the firewood of the grasper and grasped, This contradicts the statement of the scriptures. The true answer is that for sentient beings, There are two types: conventional and ultimate. The first, what the Buddha sees, Is the same as the Shravaka Vehicle. The Great Vehicle practitioners believe that the Buddha Watches the world six times, This is the name of great compassion (Thugje Chenpo), Not through sensory consciousness. Sentient beings in the ultimate truth, Refers to the nature of mind (Sem Kyi Ying) with defilements, Therefore, There is no contradiction in seeing in this way. Furthermore, in the last turning of the wheel of Dharma, All knowable things are summarized into imputed (Kuntag) And Dharma-nature. If it is said that the Buddha can see all knowable things, That does not refer to imputed phenomena, Because the object-possessor (Yulchen) is not a true concept (Tagpa), A reversed concept cannot manifest such an object. It is like seeing hairs after removing cataracts. For all knowable things of Dharma-nature, The Buddha can see simultaneously, because He has completely cleared all obstacles. There is no end to how much the Buddha knows. Saying that the perfectly enlightened Buddha can see external objects, This statement does not exist in the teachings Of the Great Vehicle.

To prevent the faults of the Mahayana tenets. How to prevent them? First, establish that all appearances are mind; when this is established, it is also established that all external objects do not exist; when this is established, the grasping of external appearances also ceases; when this is established, the sole non-dual wisdom is established. This is explained as the ultimate definitive meaning of the final turning of the wheel (referring to the Yogacara school). Don't you Atiyoga practitioners also think so? Now, later scholars in the snowy land of Tibet, as the world says, believe that external objects exist, and claim to understand the truth as seen by the Buddha from the perspective of the Prasangika school. They seize Candrakirti's treatises and say that they use them to negate the highest tenet. This is like monkeys living in the forest destroying the trees of the forest. If the views of later scholars are adopted, it contradicts the Dzogchen teachings. The Kunjed Gyalpo Tantra says that apart from Samantabhadra, there is nothing else that exists, and that all the teachers, teachings, retinues, and dharma are merely manifestations of dharmata (chos nyid), naturally accomplished from the beginning. Isn't this clearly explained? Third, let's analyze a bit the way you answer questions. You say that there is no appearance on the level of the Dharmakaya, but there is appearance on the level of the Rupakaya. If you say so, then what is the Rupakaya? The Rupakaya for the benefit of others has two aspects: the way it appears and the way it exists. The first, because it is grasped by the minds of those to be tamed, is not explained as Samyak-saṃbuddha; the second, because its state of existence is the Dharmakaya itself, there is no conventional appearance for the Samyak-saṃbuddha. Recognizing that all appearances are one's own mind is the first great door to entering the Mahayana tenets. Later scholars hate this, and if you are the same as them, how do you explain Atiyoga? If so, for the Samyak-saṃbuddha, will you explain that all that appears is the mind of the Samyak-saṃbuddha? Or will you not explain it that way? This is the first question to ask you. If according to the second statement, then the grasper and the grasped become different entities. If according to the first statement, then all sentient beings become Samyak-saṃbuddha. These are merely debates, not seriously accepted, but honest words spoken on the basis of maintaining the tenets of the ultimate meaning. Even if the answer to the rational question you raised is delayed, please be tolerant in order to adapt to the occasion, and may joy increase more and more. On the waxing moon of the auspicious eclipse day, this was completed and delivered from the hands of Tso Mdzad Sangs rgyas rgya mtsho at the golden monastery. May it be auspicious! शुभां!(Tibetan: ཤུ་བྷཾ།, Devanagari: शुभं, Romanized Sanskrit: śubhaṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Auspicious!) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
