If the sixteen joys arising from relying on the paths of the three higher joys are regarded as the pleasurable sensations of body and mind, and one clings to them, being complacent merely with the power of wind control and pervasion, then attachment to those mudra paths does not transcend samsara. Because pleasurable sensations are definitely false constructs, and delighting in and savoring them are merely conceptualizations that grasp sound and meaning. Nevertheless, through reliance on the easy application of skillful means, if a spontaneously arisen wisdom, unadulterated by the sensations of body and mind, arises like the sun amidst clouds, that should be known as the exemplary wisdom that represents the symbol. If the wisdom of the symbol has arisen and there is no possibility of turning back, is it meaningless to engage in conduct after obtaining the bhumis? It is not so, because one must engage in conduct in order to: inwardly, gradually traverse the bhumis; gradually stop the movement of karmic winds; gradually loosen the knots of the channels; and outwardly, gather under one's control all the assemblies of heroes and yoginis dwelling in the twenty-four places. Here it is said: In the great ocean of the Vajradhara's mind, exercising great dominion, according to the words and intentions of the creator, may merit be obtained from writing these letters. By that, may I and those of equal fortune, as well as others entering the state of Vajradhara, be without obstacles, and may the obstacles on the path be pacified. This teaching on the nine cycles of the path, and the essential points of practice, summarized without error, this teaching called 'The Secret Treasury: Nectar Drops,' was composed at the request of the yogi Utsmeyon Dorje Dudul, who has realized the view and mastered the tenets, by the glorious Shakya Chokden Drime Lekpai Lo, at the eaves of the temple of Gyama Rinchen Gang, and the scribe was Losang Chokyi Gyaltsen. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
