If it is not so, although it does not exist, it appears as if it does. If the mind of acceptance and rejection arises, then these two (existence and non-existence) will mutually help each other, that is the reason. In short, saying 'it exists,' and saying 'conventional truth' and 'dependent arising,' these are mutually contradictory, because although it does not actually exist, it is thought to appear. Those who are enslaved by ignorance, those who oppose you, what is strange about them not being able to bear the sound of 'no self-nature'? The treasure of your precious teachings, after acknowledging 'arising from conditions,' cannot bear the arrogance of 'emptiness,' I am surprised by this. The gate that leads to 'no self-nature,' the unsurpassed and supreme 'dependent arising,' if the name itself is clung to as self-nature, then this person, for the entry point that the noble ones have walked well, free from defilement, that good path that you delight in, what method is used to guide them? Acknowledging the existence of 'dependent arising,' is not the treasure of your teachings, because explaining 'dependent arising is emptiness,' is said to be the treasure of your teachings. Emptiness is also not 'existence,' because emptiness, which is liberated from the elaborations of 'existence' and 'non-existence,' is the ultimate meaning, this is declared from clear statements. If 'existence' is acknowledged, then what to say of being able to bear the arrogance of 'emptiness'? Because the ultimate truth of the noble ones, is said to be 'not saying anything'. Although it cannot be guided by clinging to the name of 'dependent arising,' but it can be guided to that path by the method of explaining 'emptiness is dependent arising,' because the meaning of 'dependent arising' is 'established in dependence,' 'arising in dependence' and 'that that' are also, in order to eliminate clinging to names, the reason for declaring 'not established' and 'not arising'. Self-nature is 'unfabricated' and 'non-dependent,' while dependent arising is 'dependent' and 'fabricated,' if like this, on one basis, how can it be said that it is not contradictory but combined? This is also not acceptable to you, because there is an error in the recognition of self-nature. Self-nature is to negate 'it is it,' while the reasoning of dependent arising is to enter into incompatible aspects, this is what is to be negated, while for truly established vases etc., self-nature is to negate 'it is it,' while the reasoning of dependent arising is not permissible. If using the contradictory reason of self-nature and dependent arising, to prove that vases etc. have no self-nature, if saying like this, that cannot be established, because those who say there are things, for self-nature have already acknowledged, the reasoning of dependent arising cannot be applied, for those that the reason of dependent arising enters, those do not acknowledge self-nature. Using the contradictory reason of conventional and ultimate, to prove that vases etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For things like 'etc.', in the ultimate sense, There is no inherent existence, only a conventional appearance. This is taken as a reason, and similarly for others. Therefore, whatever arises from dependence, Its nature is empty from the beginning, but it appears as existing. So it is said that all this is like an illusion. This statement is also not valid for you, Because in the state of not being real, it appears as existing, This is the meaning of illusion, but you say That dependent origination exists. If you say that although it does not exist in the ultimate sense, it appears as existing, so it can be likened to an illusion, Then everything you acknowledge as truly existing in the ultimate sense, Will also become like an illusion, but that is not the case, Because the ultimate truth and illusion are contradictory. If it is not contradictory in this way, Then all phenomena become existing in the conventional truth, From where does that established tenet come from? And that is also not what you want, Because conventional truth is not truly existing. If you say that this will lead to nihilism, To this, Chandrakirti has clearly stated in the Clear Words (Prasannapadā): Madhyamikas, having understood the nature of phenomena, prevent existence. Those who cling to seeing and not seeing (extreme views) and therefore engage in acceptance and rejection are proclaiming annihilationism. For example, to a thief, If you know he is a thief, you say he stole, Or you say that even without knowing. Through this example, it can be clearly explained. The view you have shown, Even opponents cannot find a flaw in it that is in accordance with the Dharma, This also well illustrates this. Why is that? Because by saying this, The opportunity to impute and slander On seen and unseen objects is made distant. This statement is also not valid for you, Because you acknowledge that objects exist, Therefore, all views of permanence and annihilation, Will arise from this. When all the extremes of elaboration, such as existence and non-existence of all phenomena, are blocked, Opponents cannot find a flaw in it that is in accordance with the Dharma. Your statement is unparalleled, The reason is that you have spoken of the path of dependent origination, Furthermore, Certainty about valid cognition arises. Because the dependent origination free from extremes of elaboration is spoken of, It is possible to represent the greatness of the Buddha. But by that alone, Can all the Buddha's words be understood as valid? If the truth of one aspect, Could prove that everything is true, that would be impossible. Even if one statement is determined to be valid, It still depends on three examinations. You say that this system can destroy all opponents, And avoids self-contradiction and mutual conflict, At the same time, it gives benefit and happiness to beings, Therefore, this system should be promoted. You say that this is neither existent nor non-existent, But a unity of contradictions. But because existence and non-existence are mutually exclusive, So when one is negated, It is equal to acknowledging the other, which is the view of the realists. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
