Just as the sun's rays protect us from the heat, bring joy to peacocks and other animals, and cause crops to grow by bringing rain, so too does the Dharma Lord (chos rje) protect himself and others from the heat of afflictions through the merits of the three trainings (bslab gsum), bring joy to those who seek liberation and omniscience, and shower the great rain of Dharma, such as the three baskets (sde snod rin po che gsum) of scriptures, skillfully combined grammar (legs par sbyar ba'i sgra), logic (tshad ma), and medicine (gso ba rig pa), satisfying the minds of others. To illustrate this point, the translator (lo tsA ba) wrote: 'You are like a lotus, like the sun, like a jewel, like a cloud, unblemished by the mud of distraction, illuminating beings. You bestow all benefits and happiness, showering the rain of nectar, with practice as your essence, I prostrate to you!' Furthermore, this great scholar (paN+Di ta chen po) is not confused about all the profound and vast fields of knowledge, but knows them as they are, and is therefore comparable to the Bodhisattva Manjushri (byang chub sems dpa' 'jam pa'i dbyangs). He perfectly performs all the allowances (gnang ba), prohibitions (bkag pa), and practices (sgrub pa) that arise from the sacred Vinaya ( 'dul ba), and is therefore comparable to the venerable Ananda (nyer ba'i 'khor). He is content with little and renounces all his possessions as if they were grass, living only on the simple necessities of a monk and the alms he receives in the city, and is therefore comparable to Deva (des pa'i dpal). For the sake of the sacred Dharma, he is even willing to give up his body and life, not clinging to food, clothing, and drink, but only thinking of the Dharma, and is therefore like the Sadaprarudita (rtag tu ngu). In order to seek the Dharma, he tirelessly relies on a spiritual friend (dge ba'i bshes gnyen) with great respect, and has a firm Bodhicitta (byang chub kyi yid), and is therefore like the merchant's son Norzang (tshong dpon gyi bu nor bzang). He does not look to fame and honor, but teaches disciples correctly and accurately, and therefore we should regard him as Dharmadeva (chos 'phags). These qualities are summarized in the verses of Maitreya's Glory (byams pa'i dpal): 'Manjushri, Ananda, the Glory of Deva, Sadaprarudita, Norzang, Dharmadeva appear, perfect in the five sciences, holding stainless vows, without attachment, possessing the three Dharmas, I take refuge!' Thus, merely hearing a small part of the deeds of body, speech, and mind of you, a valid person (tshad ma'i skyes bu) from the holy land (yul dam pa), I pray with one-pointedness from a distant time and place. Likewise, please hold me with your great compassion, now the translator Maitreya's Glory also follows the biography of your Lama... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

在铁牛年(lcags mo glang gi lo)的第一个月,神变大节(cho 'phrul chen po'i dus chen)的十五日,芒嘎拉姆·塔什·玛卡·乌金(mangga lam taSThi ma kha o rgyan)书写。

I shall enter (into this undertaking). May all the qualities, such as high status (mngon mtho) and definite goodness (nges legs), which are the fruits obtained from that, grow and increase like a wish-fulfilling tree that springs from the four grounds (sa bzhi), effortlessly fulfilling the hopes of others. Ultimately, may I, as a translator, become just like the qualities of the time when the lama demonstrates the attainment of perfect complete enlightenment, such as his retinue, lifespan, pure land, and so forth. This is a praise and supplication adorned at the end with a prayer. Prayed for a long time, taken care of by compassion. I, the translator, will also follow your teachings. May goodness and so on increase like a sala tree, may I become like you. This is based on the biography of the great Kashmiri Pandit Shakya Shri Bhadra, composed by the great-hearted Khro Phu Lotsawa Jampa'i Pal. In order to make it easy to understand, Lama Dpyal Lotsawa, Jamyang Rinchen Gyaltsen, and the Shakya monk Sonam Pal Zangpo successively compiled the scattered notes. The manner of performing immeasurable benefit for beings in the land of snow, supplemented from the 'Wish-Fulfilling Vine Biography'. Written by Mangalam Tashi Makha Orgyen on the fifteenth day of the first month of the Iron Female Ox year, during the Great Miracle Festival. May this (merit) cause all beings to become a boat and a great captain to liberate from the great ocean of suffering of samsara, and quickly go to the place of Tushita, where Tsongkhapa can obtain an immeasurable feast of the Dharma of the Great Vehicle. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
