Biographies of Great Masters NT20, The Precious Garland of the Biography of Kashmiri Pandit. The Precious Garland of the Biography of Kashmiri Pandit. Showing the Manner of Birth The Precious Garland of the Biography of Kashmiri Pandit. Namo Maitrinathaya (藏文:ན་མོ་མཻ་ཏྲི་ནཱ་ཐཱ་ཡ།,梵文天城体:नम मैत्रिनाथाय,梵文罗马拟音:nama maitrināthāya,Literal meaning: Homage to Maitri Natha). For the Shakya doctrine, he is the second master; he is the lifeblood of the Shakya doctrine, bearing the name of Shakya; the Buddha who has not yet appeared, the crown jewel of Jambudvipa; Pandit, the sole protector of beings, may you be victorious! After the complete passing of the Thubwang (Buddha) for one thousand six hundred and ninety-two years, for the lifeblood of the five hundred's doctrine, for the master holding the saffron robe, please write the biography of that sage. That is, our master, the Buddha who has not yet appeared, the incarnation of Rabsel Gyalpo (King of Clear Light), on the earth, without any comparison, like the crown jewel of the five hundred, lion among men, holding firmly the Dharma kingship of the Thubpa's (Buddha's) power, known as the second omniscient one, the lamp that greatly illuminates the doctrine, the great Kashmiri Pandit, named Shakya Shri Bhadra, whose qualities are as numerous as the dust of the ocean, but I will briefly describe his biography with devotion, following the logic he composed, the manner in which the Thubpa (Buddha) showed passing into peace, after one thousand six hundred and ninety-two years. In the center of the city of Gribtan in the Kashmiri region, in the city called Prabhavapura...best friend, the father was the merchant Samya, and the mother was Sumbhaka...flower mother's son, showed the manner of birth of this great being. The name was named Jashodhara...holder of fame, Khrophu Lotsawa Jampa Pel praised through the door of biography: Incomparable Gribtan, the most excellent city of Kashmir, Prabhavapura, the place where wealth resides, the son of the merchant Samya and Sumbhaka, I prostrate to the one born in Jashodhara. When he was ten years old, he learned from the Brahmin Pandit Lakshmi Kara...auspicious maker, and others, the common fields of knowledge such as grammar, poetry, prosody, and medicine, and defeated many opponents, his fame as a scholar spread throughout the country, and the king held him as the chief object of offering, and it is said that he wore a jewel crown on his head.

'Auspicious! Glory of Maitreya!' To Brahmins like Laksmikara, at the age of ten, he mastered grammar and poetry, as well as medicine, defeating other schools. The king crowned him and prostrated. Thus praised. The great Panchen, until the age of twenty-two, in the monastery called Bhrngi Bihar...the Silver Temple, from great Panditas like Ratnasri...Konchok Pal Rinpoche and many accomplished masters, heard grammar, logic, the Tripitaka, inner and outer tantric empowerments, and many instructions on the tantras. At that time, he could see the key points of difficult matters in the light of a lamp, like rainbows appearing as letters, and he had extensive knowledge of everything. The Lotsawa praised: 'From Bhrngi Bihar, Ratnasri, etc., he learned inner and outer grammar, logic, and the treasury of scriptures. He understood all doctrines, and difficult points appeared as letters in the light and rainbows. I prostrate to you.' Then, in the monastery called Sami Satra Vihara, from Panditas like Lalita Vrid, who were learned and accomplished, he heard various treatises, especially the maturing empowerments of inner and outer tantra, the path of liberation, and all the tantras and instructions. He had visions of many tutelary deities. The venerable Khrolo said: 'In Sami and Satra Vihara, he relied on learned and accomplished masters like Lalita Vrid. Thus he heard various treatises, as well as the maturing and liberating paths. The supreme deities also prostrate to you.' At the age of twenty-three, he took ordination in the Sarvastivada school. At the age of twenty-three, from Khenpo Sukhasri Bhadra...Dewabasangpo, he took ordination in the Sarvastivada school. At that time, leaves from the Bodhi tree piled up on his head, and the noble Maitreya from Tushita extended his hand and placed it on his head, saying: 'Son of good family, go to the east and perfect all places of reason!' Such a vision appeared, and he went to the east and heard many scriptures. For this, Nulotsawa praised: 'At the age of twenty-three, he left home and took ordination, following in the footsteps of the Victorious One, collecting Bodhi leaves. Maitreya extended his hand and also showed the path of practice. I prostrate to you, who have become a great treasure of scriptures!' On another occasion, while listening to the Prajnaparamita in the land of Rada...called Ropasa, he attained the complete stage of... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
