Collection of Instructions by Salopa SL32 The Practice of the Immovable One 1-756 The Practice of the Immovable One Practices for Vajrapani Subduer of Beings, Lion-Faced Dakini, and Avalokiteshvara. May the practice of the Immovable One bring increase of virtue! Nama Arya Achalaya (Tibetan: ན་མཿཨཱཪྻཱ་ཙ་ལཱ་ཡ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: नम आर्य अचलाय, Sanskrit Romanization: nama ārya acalāya, Literal Meaning: Homage to the Noble Immovable One). One who wishes to meditate on the Noble Immovable One should sit comfortably in the lotus position. Take refuge and generate bodhicitta in accordance with the common practice. In an instant, visualize yourself as the Noble Immovable One, with a blue Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Meaning: Hūṃ) at your heart, resting on a sun disc. From it, rays of light emanate, inviting the Noble Immovable One from his natural abode, surrounded by a retinue of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Vajra Samāja (Tibetan: བཛྲ་ས་མཱ་ཛཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्र समाज, Sanskrit Romanization: vajra samāja, Literal Meaning: Vajra Samāja). Namo Guru Bhyaḥ (Tibetan: ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་བྷྱཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: नम गुरुभ्य, Sanskrit Romanization: nama gurubhya, Literal Meaning: Homage to the Gurus). Sanskrit Romanization: nama ārya acala saparivārebhya, Literal Meaning: Homage to the Noble Immovable One with his retinue). Oṃ Arya Achala Saparivara Arghaṃ Pādyaṃ Puṣpaṃ Dhūpaṃ Dīpaṃ Gandhaṃ Naivedyaṃ Śapta Pratīccha Svāhā (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཨཱཪྻཱ་ཙ་ལཱ་ས་པ་རི་ཝཱ་ར་ཨརྒྷཾ་པཱདྱཾ་པུཥྤཾ་དྷཱུཔཾ་དཱི་པཾ་གནྡྷཾ་ནཻ་ཝི་དྱཾ་ཤཔྟ་པྲ་ཏཱིཙྪ་སྭཱ་ཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ आर्य अचला सपरिवार अर्घं पाद्यं पुष्पं धूपं दीपं गंधं नैवेद्यं शब्द प्रतीच्छ स्वाहा, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ ārya acala saparivāra arghaṃ pādyaṃ puṣpaṃ dhūpaṃ dīpaṃ gandhaṃ naivedyaṃ śabda pratīccha svāhā, Literal Meaning: Oṃ, Noble Immovable One with his retinue, water for drinking, water for washing feet, flowers, incense, light, perfume, food, sound, please accept, svāhā). I take refuge in the Three Jewels, etc. Recite the seven-branch prayer three times. May all sentient beings have happiness and the causes of happiness. May all sentient beings be free from suffering and the causes of suffering. May all sentient beings never be separated from the happiness that is without suffering. May all sentient beings abide in equanimity, free from attachment and aversion. Oṃ Svabhāva Śuddhāḥ Sarva Dharmāḥ Svabhāva Śuddho'ham (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ་ཤུདྡྷཿསརྦྦ་དྷརྨཱ་སྭ་བྷཱ་ཝ་ཤུདྡྷོ྅ཧཾ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: ॐ स्वभाव शुद्धाः सर्व धर्माः स्वभाव शुद्धोऽहम्, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ svabhāva śuddhāḥ sarva dharmāḥ svabhāva śuddho'ham, Literal Meaning: Oṃ, purity of nature, all dharmas are pure in nature, I am). From emptiness, from Paṃ arises a lotus, and from Raṃ arises a sun disc, upon which your own mind transforms into a single blue Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Meaning: Hūṃ) syllable. Light radiates from it, pacifying all the sins, obscurations, obstacles, and hindrances of all sentient beings. 1-757 Gathering the blessings and power of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, it dissolves into the Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Meaning: Hūṃ) syllable. From this, you instantly become the venerable Immovable One, with a body of blue color. With one face and two arms, the right hand holds aloft a blazing sword of wisdom in the sky, and the left hand makes a threatening gesture at the heart, with the end of a vajra lasso coiled around the forefinger, raised above the shoulder. The fangs are bared, with the upper teeth biting down on the lower lip. Endowed with three eyes, the right eye looks upward, destroying the demons of the sons of the gods; the left eye looks downward, subduing the nāgas and earth lords; the middle eye looks straight ahead, destroying subtle obstacles. As a symbol of subduing the nāgas, gnyan spirits, and earth lords, a white snake is used as a head ornament. Adorned with precious jewels and wearing a skirt of various silks. The black hair is tied in a topknot of matted locks on the crown of the head. The left knee is planted on the seat, and the right leg is in a standing posture.
