Do you truly understand the manifestation and realization of each small mantra? Or do you merely recite meaningless evil spells? Even so, you presumptuously wield the bell and vajra, And become arrogant when offerings or food for the deceased are received. Deep down, you know nothing of the system of empowerment and the two stages, so how can you practice? Some are even worse, donning the robes of monks, Yet acting like officers giving orders. Harboring malice, plotting against others like poison, creating disputes for no reason. If someone criticizes them, they burst into flames of anger, Spewing out various evil words. If they gain a little something, they spend it on wine and pleasure. If left alone, they either sleep or babble nonsense, Or indulge in gambling and other meaningless activities. Consider the actions of these so-called practitioners, where will they ultimately end up? Worldly people, in order to elevate themselves, Use deception and trickery to demean others. Servants control masters, children kill parents. They abandon shame and consideration, recklessly spread evil words, Creating all sorts of evil deeds. Because they did not accumulate good deeds in previous lives, they have no happiness in this life. The beings that countless Buddhas of the past could not subdue, can you subdue them? I have seen all sorts of evil deeds, and therefore aroused renunciation, sorrow, and compassion. I long to enter the Buddha's teachings with faith, and if you listen to me, do this: First, diligently learn to read and write. Then, from a qualified khenpo (abbot) and acharya (teacher), receive the novice and full ordination vows, and uphold the precepts properly. In order to distinguish the meaning and connection of words, study grammar and logic. Through the ceremony of taking the Bodhisattva vows, generate Bodhicitta (the mind of enlightenment for the benefit of all beings), and most importantly, practice the Bodhisattva conduct of exchanging self and others. Receive the four empowerments from the supreme guru, Then strive to practice the profound stages of the path. Gradually realize the merits of the grounds and paths, and ultimately attain the thirteenth bhumi of Vajradhara. Therefore, generate fear of samsara and dedicate yourself to the path, And diligently practice with joy. This way of learning the path is not something I made up arbitrarily. It is based on the words and treatises of Shakyamuni Buddha, Especially the pure teachings transmitted by our Sakya lineage gurus. I, too, because of good deeds in previous lives, and pure aspirations, Was born into a pure family. From a young age, I awakened the habits of my lineage, longed to become a monk, and entered the Dharma without hindrance.
