The Collection of Teachings of Salopa, Chapter Six Svasti! Śrī rastu kalyāṇa mitram praṇava. May there be glorious auspiciousness! Utmost praise to the virtuous spiritual friend! With pure white virtues and the two accumulations (merit and wisdom) gathered into a milk ocean, adorned with the four kinds of precious jewels (faith, discipline, generosity, and wisdom). The light of the seven noble riches (faith, discipline, shame, modesty, learning, generosity, and wisdom) shines throughout the earth, and the sound of the non-dual Dharma resounds in all directions. The benefits for oneself and others gallop like a swift horse, nourish like nectar, and stand majestically like the King of Mount Sumeru in the center of the four continents. With a profound and clear Vajra iron fence and a wall of Hayagriva's flames meticulously guarding, I prostrate to you—the lord who controls all the activities of sentient and insentient beings. Your vast learning and wisdom are like a lush forest, abundant like medicinal herbs. You are proficient in the five sciences, with a red matted hair on your head, majestic and unparalleled. You penetrate the profound truth, your eyes are like torches, able to cut off all wrong views. You are the King of the Five Faces. In the past, you were the direct disciple of the Kashmiri Paṇḍita Mahāśākyaśrī Bhadra—Chak Lotsāwa, the Arhat who upholds the precepts; the disciple of the Nepali Paṇḍita Nima Wangpo—Chak Lotsāwa Chöje Pel; as well as the lineage of successive virtuous spiritual friends such as Jetsun Pelchen Sangpo, and Nyammé Yeshe Pel Sangpo. You were born into the Chak family, proficient in the inner and outer five sciences, a great scholar. You strictly observe the precepts, far from subtle faults. You are an exemplar of monks who uphold pure discipline. You are proficient in the two stages of Vajrayoga, your realization is stable, a great accomplished master. Chak Lotsāwa the Third, known as Ratna Dharma Rāza, your fame spreads throughout the world. Now, I will briefly describe the essence of your nectar-like words.
