The two 'Whatever arises, don't cling' mean: Regarding the object grasped externally and the mind that grasps internally, whatever good or bad thoughts arise, don't become attached to them. This is the meaning. The mind is not bound by appearances, but by attachment. Abandon this attachment like the taste of poison. So it is said. The two 'Not arisen, not arisen' refer to: Unmistaken awareness, without reliance. Tilopa said: If the mind has no support, it is Mahamudra. If you become familiar and accustomed to this, you will attain enlightenment. So it is said. The two 'Arisen, arisen' refer to: The unchanging, perfectly complete, non-inverted wisdom that is the object of experience of individual self-awareness. 'Arisen, don't cling' refers to: As the Lord of Dharma, Protector of the Three Worlds, said: 'The supreme realization is untouched by the three great ones.' As it is said: The ground, Great Madhyamaka. The path, Mahamudra. The fruit, Great Perfection. That which is untouched even by the three great ones is the supreme realization. So it is said. The two 'Arisen liberation simultaneously, arisen liberation simultaneously!' mean: For excellent meditation, conceptual thoughts arise as meditation, the essence of conceptual thought is said to be Dharmakaya. The two 'Empty, empty' are: Like a snake in a rope, appearing but non-existent, adventitious. 'Not empty, not empty, completely empty' is: Non-affirming negation, the ultimate reality of the unsurpassed Dharma. As it is said in the Uttaratantra: 'The realm is empty of adventitious stains, but not empty of unsurpassed Dharma.' So it is said. 'Unceasing, unceasing' are body and wisdom. 'Cessation, cessation' is the illusion of dualistic grasping. 'Without cessation' are self-arisen, spontaneously present phenomena. 'Primordially empty, primordially empty, completely empty, utterly empty' means: From the very beginning, never having existed as a real entity, without basis, without root, all-pervasive in samsara and nirvana. 'Above, below, between, without boundaries, all-arising' is: The wisdom of Dharmata, impartial, all-pervasive in samsara and nirvana. This was written at the urging of the monk Karma Tseten of Trashi Zurmang (place name) Ling, with admonishments by Khenpo Obar Chenpo, and the scribe was the one who requested it. May all beings conquer the battle of the four maras and attain mastery of vajra-like samadhi. May there be victory! The practice of the Mind Class: A Clear Meaning.
