The Wonderful Instructions on the Practical Manual of Practice. The Wonderful Instructions on the Practical Manual of Practice. The Wonderful Instructions on the Practical Manual of Practice: Homage! To Samantabhadra, the teacher of self-nature, the glorious Vajradhara of the complete enjoyment body, and the Nirmana-kaya Shakyamuni Vajrasattva, I prostrate with reverence in body, speech, and mind. To Garab Dorje, the nature of the Victorious Ones, Manjushrimitra, Shri Singha, Jnanasutra, Vimalamitra, and all the wise and accomplished lamas, I prostrate. I will explain the practical manual of practice written in copper letters, the essence of all the vehicles spoken by the Victorious Ones, the seventeen tantras, the exemplary tantras, the fragments, and all one hundred and nineteen instructions. The perfectly enlightened Buddha, with skillful means and abundant compassion, Spoke of the nine levels of vehicles and the three pitakas. The pinnacle of all of these is the unsurpassable yoga, which includes the generation stage, the combination of generation and completion stages, and the completion stage. Among these, the completion stage, and even more so, the Mind Series, the Space Series, and the teachings that all phenomena are mind and that self-nature is free from elaboration, are the most extraordinary. The outer circle shows the nature as terminology, the inner circle shows the nature as memory, and the secret circle introduces the meaning as an example and symbol like the heart. Cutting off all the elaborations of all of these, the seventeen most secret and unsurpassed tantras and all one hundred and nineteen instructions are gathered into the five meanings of the letters Ma Ru Ma Bu. Here, there are three: the lama who shows the instructions, the disciple who is the object of the instructions, and the instructions themselves. The first is that although it is said in many of the tantras and instructions, to put it briefly, from the Phra Tig: "Pure and with senses not diminished, having heard much and with subdued pride, abandoning pretense and being content, being familiar with the tantras and taking them into practice, realizing the view and having little attachment, having few activities and being diligent, being without delusion and being content, or abiding in the three vows, possessing asceticism and applying oneself to the supreme, relying on the forest is the lama." So it is said. The disciple who is the object of the instructions is: In the text, it says: "Ema! Having faith and compassion, being generous and broad-minded, having sharp senses and gentle speech, being tamed and speaking well, respecting the lama and cutting off verbal elaboration, not examining secret words even as a speck to others, not speaking.

One should diligently engage in this practice. This is the vessel of secret mantras. As it is said, it is extremely important to examine the qualities of the teacher and disciple. Although it is said that the instructions include guidance, introduction, and complete bestowal, in essence, they are related to the four empowerments and are two of the sixteen essential instructions for practice. Furthermore, although there are many sequences of essential instructions, they are all gathered here. As it is said in the book of essential instructions, one should act accordingly. First is the preliminary practice, then establishing the view of mind, the sequence of manifest realization, and finally, explaining the basis for generating faith, along with the signs, measures, and results of practice. The initial practice involves either receiving a qualified empowerment or through other tantras, one should properly receive empowerment, rely on the guru, generate certainty, and in order for blessings to enter the mind, the guru yoga is the vajra path instruction of this very practice. In all session intervals, it is the root of blessings. Therefore, on the crown of one's head, on a seat of the sun and moon, visualize the guru inseparable from all Buddhas as Vajrasattva or any other deity. From his thumb, a stream of bodhicitta nectar flows and dissolves into the Brahma aperture on the crown of one's head. By praying in this way, the four chakras of the body are gradually filled, and if one rests the mind in the bliss of body and mind being intoxicated by uncontaminated bliss, then the body will be comfortable and the meaning of the nature of reality will dawn in the mind. As it is said, one should practice in this way. In the session intervals, perform the vajra three-pointed wheel of the body, with the soles of the feet joined together, the hands joined in prayer on the crown of the head, visualizing the body as blue vajra, remaining in this posture will provide protection. As it is said, do this for each session. The section on preliminaries, this is the first. Then the second, one should purify the mind. There are seven aspects to this: seven purifications from the text, seven necessities for purification, and seven measures of accomplishment. Although explained in sections, here it is explained as practice. First, both teacher and student should make the body comfortable, offer a mandala to the guru, and receive instructions from the guru. First, contemplate impermanence, cultivate bodhicitta, which is that we, from beginningless time in this samsara, have been deluded by the appearance of objects, clinging to them as true and permanent.
