Dasatulku (Time Emanation Body). I prostrate to the three bodies and five wisdoms. (sku gsum ye shes lnga la phyag 'tshal lo) From the essence of the minds of all Buddhas of the three times, from the innermost essence of the unsurpassed secret mantra, this ultimate, immaculate oral instruction, although it is not appropriate to write in words and letters, for the sake of sentient beings in the degenerate age, the unadulterated, unobscured seal of the command is written in letters. Without self-desire, I ask the Khas to be patient. Moreover, the essence of all the teachings spoken by the sixth Vajradhara, the perfectly complete Buddha, is condensed into one. The intention of the Victorious Ones. The heart of the Dakinis. The great seal, the essence of the sun that dispels darkness, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, is taught in three ways: First, to explain the history in order to generate devotion and respect. Second, to explain the purpose in order to generate certainty. Third, to explain the instructions in order to practice. First, the history is known elsewhere. Second, the purpose of the Dharma is: As the sky pervades, so do sentient beings pervade. All of these are condensed into eighty-four thousand afflictions. These are also condensed into the three poisons. These are also fundamentally condensed into the conceptual thought of grasping and clinging. From that, one wanders in samsara due to attachment. Moreover, since it is necessary to be liberated from that samsara, as afflictions pervade, so does the compassion of the noble ones pervade. As compassion pervades, so does the antidote wisdom pervade. When these are collected, they are collected into eighty-four thousand Dharma doors. When these are also collected, they are collected into nine or three vehicles. Since it is necessary to strike the key point of enlightenment and make one a Buddha, profound instructions are needed. Among all the instructions, at the beginning of the teachings, since life is long and merit is great, there is time to meditate, and based on gradual meditation, the instructions for meditating and becoming a Buddha are taught. Now, at the end of the teachings, since life is short and merit is small, there is no time to meditate, therefore, based on the key point of instantaneous entry, this is the instruction for handing Buddhahood into one's hands. Based on the key point, there are three instructions that do not require meditation: the characteristics of the speaker, the lama; the characteristics of the listener, the disciple; and the characteristics of the practice instruction. First, the characteristics of the lama are: the lineage of blessings is not diminished; understanding the meaning of the nature of reality; understanding the intention of the sutras and tantras; wisdom.

Having the qualities of maturity and vows, erasing the stains of the eight worldly concerns, cutting off self-proliferation, abandoning pretense and deceit, being skilled in the means of interdependent origination, having great blessings and compassion, and being skilled in guiding others, one must have a lama who possesses such qualities. If the lama does not possess these qualities, just as praying to a flawed turquoise does not bring blessings, blessings will not enter the continuum of others. A lama who possesses these qualities is like a wish-fulfilling jewel, blessings will come like rain. The second point is the qualities of the disciple: not craving food, clothing, and fame, having great renunciation for this life, having great faith and being wary of karmic results, having devotion, respect, and wisdom, and practicing according to the teachings, having great perseverance and not feeling discouraged, seeing the lama as a Buddha, one must have such a worthy disciple. If one does not possess these qualities, it is like pouring essence into a poisonous or bottomless container, it cannot be used. If one possesses the conditions of worthiness, it is like pouring essence into gold and silver, it is both worthy and increases the essence. The third point is the qualities of the pith instructions: little effort but great meaning, vast methods but a swift path, wide doors but easy to practice, broad scope but concentrated meaning. Little effort means that one does not need to accumulate merit for three countless eons, because here, the three doors of body, speech, and mind abide in their own place, cutting off the cliff of samsara, so little effort. Great meaning means that by recognizing awareness in an instant, one attains the ultimate abode for all lifetimes, so great meaning. Vast methods means that the Shravakas abandon afflictions, the Pratyekabuddhas prevent (samsara), the Bodhisattvas purify through the path, and the secret mantras transform others, but here, by recognizing the nature itself, one does not need to do anything, one does not need to abandon or accept, one can attain Buddhahood by relying on anything, so vast methods. Swift path means that like the Paramita vehicle, one needs to accumulate merit for countless eons to attain Buddhahood, but here, one can attain the fruit of Buddhahood that possesses two benefits in one lifetime, so swift path. Wide doors means that other vehicles need to examine and analyze through the three doors of appearance, cessation, and purification, but here there is no distinction between male, female, or neuter, there is no distinction between old and young in age, there is no distinction between good and bad in actions, one can be liberated, so wide doors. Easy to practice means that like the Paramitas, one needs to practice the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, etc.
