First, the Preparation: The basis for the mandala, it is said to be done on the land of a fortunate person's house, home, or wealthy person's field. Having made such a platform, or having smeared a mandala, sprinkle fragrant white mustard seeds on it, placing one large heap in the center and one small heap on each side. If wealthy, offer all three of the retinue of Namtösé (Vaisravana), or only the main deity's image, and if not, offer a tsakali (picture card) etc. as a support. Arrange the torma in front. If there is no image at all, then on top of the heap, on a small cushion, in a precious vessel without cracks, place flour of various grains mixed with white sugar, medicines, and precious powders, making a square or oblong shape in the center, decorated with sun, moon, and jewels.
