Recite three times. Front Generation: Incense purification. From emptiness, in the center of the joyful grove of willows in the front mandala, within a jeweled palace adorned with exquisite ornaments and arrangements, upon a jeweled throne supported by lions atop the subdued Vinayaka, on a seat stacked with lotus, moon, and sun, rays of light emanate from the red Vai (Tibetan: བཻ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वै, Sanskrit Romanization: vai, literal meaning: Vai). Offerings are made to please the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Gather the blessings of body, speech, and mind, and the power of Dharma protectors and treasure owners. Eliminate the poverty of sentient beings. The rays of light converge and dissolve into the letter Vai (Tibetan: བཻ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वै, Sanskrit Romanization: vai, literal meaning: Vai), transforming into light. From this, appears the Great King Vaishravana, his body the color of red ruby. With one face and two arms, he is wrathful yet smiling, exceedingly majestic and graceful. He wears a leather helmet adorned with jeweled tassels and silk ribbons. He is clad in a great cloak of red and green silk, layered with a powerful coat of mail, with silk streamers fluttering. His right hand holds a tiger banner and a red flag, while his left hand holds a treasure mongoose and a red iron hook. He is beautifully adorned with garlands of jewels and various flowers, and sits in the posture of royal ease. From his body and hand implements, red, hook-like rays of light emanate, involuntarily subduing all beings. At his heart, in the center of a four-spoked wheel, on a seat of lions and moon, resides a wisdom being identical to himself. At its heart, on a sun disc, the red-yellowish Vai (Tibetan: བཻ, Sanskrit Devanagari: वै, Sanskrit Romanization: vai, literal meaning: Vai) is surrounded by a garland of red mantra syllables, rotating clockwise. Outside the main deity, on the four spokes of the wheel, are Jambhala in the east, Saraswati in the south, Lakshmi in the west, and Bharali in the north. All are red, wrathful and smiling, adorned with silk, jewels, and garlands of flowers. The right hand holds an iron hook, and the left hand holds a skull cup filled with nectar. A lute is held under the arm, and a mongoose bag is tucked into the armpit. At the heart of each of these deities, on a sun disc, is a garland of Matrak mantras. Behind them, on an eight-petaled red lotus, reside the eight treasure-holder brothers, their bodies red, wearing coats of mail and leather helmets, adorned with silk and various jewels. The right hand raises a red flag, and the left hand holds a mongoose.
