A Detailed Explanation of the Peaceful Activity of Rainbow Maning, a Branch of the Work of Averting Obstacles by Dakinis, and a Concise Method of Averting Obstacles in the Ordinary Sangling Gongdü, Clearly Stating Two Methods, Benefiting All Well-being. Composed by Tennyi Lingpa. A Detailed Explanation of the Peaceful Activity of Rainbow Maning, a Branch of the Work of Averting Obstacles by Dakinis, and a Concise Method of Averting Obstacles in the Ordinary Sangling Gongdü, Clearly Stating Two Methods, Called Benefiting All Well-being, is Herein Contained. Namo Guru Deva Dakiniye (藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思). The Power of the Dakinis, the Wrathful One Who Subdues Demons, the Treasure Revealer with the Rainbow Body, the Power of Accomplishment. After respectfully bowing to the inseparable Vajradhara, here is a clear explanation of averting obstacles in peaceful activities. Although the methods of averting obstacles and misfortunes appear in various terma texts in both extensive and concise forms, here I will explain this method, which is very easy to practice, in seven parts: Who is the performer? Where is the activity performed? For what purpose is it performed? Where is it performed? When is it performed? How is it performed? And a discussion of the faults and benefits. First, the teacher who performs the activity should be someone who has attained the warmth of view and meditation, or at least someone who has the blessing of recitation and accomplishment, or at the very least someone who keeps their vows pure and knows the ritual and can practice it without error, which will be helpful. Second, there are four objects of activity: the best are great beings who perform deeds for the benefit of others, and those who are engaged in stable practice, for whom there may be obstacles from their lamas, yidams, and dakinis; the least are those who have entered the gate of the teachings; and even ordinary people may experience disturbances from Dharma protectors or the eight classes of beings taking their life force, so it is necessary to act for them. Third, what is the purpose of the activity? For all four types of people, due to past karma, the defilement of broken vows, and their own careless actions, unexpected diseases and unwanted events may occur. This method is particularly profound for averting these. The Gongdü says: "Therefore, even if life is exhausted and the time of death has come, it can be postponed for three years, so what need is there to mention averting minor obstacles?"

Me, in short, it is necessary to perform (this ritual) in order to avert all the obstacles, such as evil spirits, that cause internal and external hindrances, and the reasons are sufficient. Moreover, in order to benefit the health of the body of the holy beings who uphold the teachings and the practitioners of Dharma, if this ritual is composed with the mind of enlightenment, immeasurable merit will be obtained. Thus it is said. Fourth, the best place is where the dakinis gather, which has great power. At the very least, it is necessary to choose a place that has not been affected by evil shadows. It depends on the distinction between the superior, intermediate, and inferior persons to be practiced. Fifth, regarding the time to do it, if there is leisure, it should be done on the eighth and tenth days of the waxing and waning moon, as well as on the full and new moon days, and on the fourth day of each month, and at the times when the dakinis roam. If there is no leisure, if sudden illness, evil spirits, or unfortunate events occur, or if divination shows bad omens, especially if there are many inauspicious signs and signs of death in dreams, or if one encounters an unfavorable year, month, or day, or if there are mixed rumors, etc., then one should immediately and diligently strive to perform this ritual. Sixth, regarding how to perform it, in general, for the benefit of superior people, it should be performed very elaborately as it is said in the Three Roots of the Gongdü and the Ratna Heart Essence, the Stainless Aversion, etc. For others, it should be decided according to the high or low status and importance of the person to be practiced, and an intermediate method should be adopted. A concise method. Although it is also necessary to adopt a concise method, here will be shown the concise method for all superior, intermediate, and inferior people, and the two stages specifically for ordinary people. The first is divided into three parts: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. The first part is divided into two aspects: first, the arrangement, arrange the offerings, tormas, gathering implements, longevity items, etc. of the deity for whom the ritual is performed. Among them, like the activity of Hayagriva or the dakinis, although praised, it is easy to perform and gathers many, and if the gathering is performed like the common deity, it is even better, so the gathering should be performed in that way. In front of it or on another platform, place five piles of grain, and on top of them place five precious vessels, with an eight-cornered torma in the center, a round torma in the east, a square torma in the south, a crescent-shaped torma in the west, and a triangular torma in the north, with colors matching the directions, decorated, and tie colored threads, white in the center, blue in the east, yellow in the south, red in the west, and green in the north, wrapped around the practitioner's seat. Also prepare a vase filled with nectar, a mirror, white silk, and a bathing vessel. Aversion
