Necessary Empty Words for Inviting Patrons of Consecration, Auspiciousness, and Wish Fulfillment. Vajrakshara. Necessary Empty Words for Inviting Patrons of Consecration, Auspiciousness, and Wish Fulfillment. Vajrakshara. Herein Resides the Necessary Empty Words for Inviting Patrons of Consecration, Auspiciousness, and Wish Fulfillment. Namo Buddhaya. From the extensive ritual of consecration, to elaborate a little on the connection of inviting the patrons. First, one may precede with auspicious verses to the Three Jewels or any related explanation, or it may be omitted. That is, the giver, with superior intention and completely pure action, having accomplished the perfect support of the body, speech, and mind of the Sugata, this request for consecration is the basis of all goodness. As it is said in the Sutra of the King of All Dharmas: "In the world with gods, other than the Three Jewels, there is no place of merit, therefore all things are offered to them." As it is said, the unsurpassed field of merit to be relied upon by all beings, including gods, is the Three Precious Jewels. And for those whose minds are supremely transformed by the profound state, the nature of the Three Jewels is the mind of enlightenment, the self-born wisdom, the essence of self-awareness, realizing that it is naturally spontaneously present from the beginning. As it is said in the Magical Mirror: "Self-born, stainless wisdom form, indestructible bindu of great bliss, pervading all like the sky, is the nature of the non-abiding Dharmakaya." And in the Adorned Tree Sutra: "Whoever I and the Buddhas, consecrate with equal nature, non-abiding, without taking, they will become Sugatas. Form and feeling, perception and, consciousness and heroes of mind, they will become great Thubpas." The Protector Maitreya also said: "In the ultimate sense, the refuge of beings, is only the Buddha, for the Muni possesses the Dharmakaya." Thus, in the face of common disciples who have not understood the meaning, the compassionate activity of the Buddhas, blessed as the seals of body, speech, and mind, are placed in front as the support for manifestly accumulating the two accumulations.

The so-called Three Jewels are the only refuge for those who desire liberation. Considering this, the scriptures mention many times the method of creating supports for the Three Jewels and the inconceivable benefits of making offerings. As it is said in the Vinaya-vibhaṅga, "Gardens, temples, bedding, and constant food." etc., the chief source of merit arising from material things is the Saṅgha, and the construction of temples, images, scriptures, and stupas therein. In other sutras, it is also said, "Offering to countless millions of śrāvaka Saṅghas with provisions for countless years is less meritorious than making an image of the Tathāgata one cubit in height, filled with relics, from clay." It is also said in the Sutra Requested by King Clear, "Making or causing to make a stupa of the Sage, it destroys sorrow, makes the whole body firm, becomes a treasure of jewels, becomes the lord of the world, and that person will conquer the enemy. The stupas of the Blessed One and the images, however many dust particles there are on them, one will surely obtain that many kingdoms, as well as the heavenly realm and the human realm. Having obtained the samādhi of the form and formless realms, and all the supreme grounds of perfection, finally, one will be separated from the suffering of birth, old age, etc., and attain the state of Buddhahood." In the Lotus Sutra of the Sacred Dharma, it says, "Some make images of the Sugatas with the seven precious jewels, and some with copper or wood, all of these will attain enlightenment." In the Māyājāla Tantra, it says, "Making mudras with earth and so on, if one attains liberation in stages, what need is there to mention that it is itself, having been purified by pure wisdom?" As it is said in the scriptures, the supports that are made are also adorned in an auspicious way with the names of bathing, enthroning, and blessing. This ritual is called "Pratiṣṭhā Vidhi," where "Pra" is a prefix indicating an increase in meaning, "tiṣṭha" is to be stable or to abide for a long time, and "vidhi" is the ritual, that is, the power of this consecration ritual itself.
