The work of the general thread and color of the mandala, very clear and joyful. Dharmaśrī. The work of the general thread and color of the mandala, very clear and joyful. Dharmaśrī. The work of the general thread and color of the mandala, very clear and joyful, resides. Homage to the glorious Vajrasattva). I prostrate to the source of all Sugata mandalas, the feet of the venerable lama. For the sake of the less intelligent, I will explain the ritual work of the mandala's thread and color, which is very clear and joyful. Briefly, there are two types of threads: the original thread and the action thread. The material for the original thread is the stem of a lotus, or cotton or wool. The material is purchased by a hero for a price. The thread spun by a virtuous woman of sixteen years of age has five or twenty-five colors. The length is twice the size of the mandala, and the thickness is one-twentieth of the door. Bless it as the five wisdoms. The method of placing it is that the teacher sits in the west, and the disciple sits in the east, ...in a back-to-back manner. First, place the central thread in the sky. Similarly, the teacher is in the south, and the disciple is in the north, ...in a back-to-back manner, place the second thread. The teacher is in the fire direction, and the disciple is in the northeast, ...in a back-to-back manner, place the eastern side thread. The teacher is in the wind direction, and the disciple is in the Rakshasa direction, ...in a back-to-back manner, place the west. The teacher is the same, and the disciple is in the northeast, ...in a back-to-back manner, place the north. The teacher is in the fire direction, and the disciple is in the Rakshasa direction, ...in a back-to-back manner, place the south. The teacher is the same, and the disciple is in the wind position, first place the corner thread. The teacher is a Rakshasa, and the disciple is in the northeast, place the second thread. In all cases, turn to the right, especially place the central thread in a reverse back-to-back manner. This is the order of placing the sky thread. Then explain the order of the action thread. The thread made of silk or wool is twisted with three or nine colors. The spinner determines the length, thickness, and fineness. The thread made as before is blessed as body, speech, and mind. The order of the eight threads is the same as before. You can place them, or you can place the two corner threads before the four side threads. There is no contradiction in making it easy for the time being. When placing the threads, the position of the teacher and disciple is as precious as the original thread. This is also explained in a slightly more detailed way. It should not be less than one cubit in size, how reasonable it is.

On the surface of the ground. First, draw the east-west diameter line. Make a mark in its center. That is the center of the mandala. From the center, equally to the east and west, using the marked span, make marks in the north and south directions. Draw the second diameter line on top of that. Similarly, on the north-south diameter line as well, make marks like the east-west direction. The span line between them, fix on the marks of the four directions, and make marks on the four corners. Draw the second corner line on top of that. On each side, according to what is suitable, draw four side lines, which are the arrow shaft lines. From the arrow shaft line to the center, divide the four corner lines into three equal parts. Fix on the outer third, draw four side lines, which are the root lines. Between the arrow shaft line and the root line, bisect into two large portions. The inner one discards the center, and draws two edge lines. The desired cloth pattern of the wall appears. Bisect the outer large portion, and bisect that outer portion as well. Half of the grid appears as the east arrow shaft. After that, from the inner root line to the outer horse-landing line, on the left and right of the diameter line, draw two large portions. Draw half of the inner one, and half of the outer one. Divide the outer one into four parts. The lintel, door frame, door side, and darkness, pillars, and pillar decorations appear. Horse-landing eight parts, etc., add small portions to the edge of the pillar decoration. Make a horse-landing outside the arrow shaft. On that, there are three methods of cutting small cloths. Eight parts, four parts, eleven parts. The outer practice is ancient. Because this direction is rare, it is not mentioned here. First is the eight-part cloth, cutting three large portions on the outer arrow shaft, and dividing the inner two into four parts. The horse-landing is the eight-part cloth. The outer one discards the center, and draws two edge lines. The positions of the lotus, Dharma wheel, and umbrella. The order of those outer edges is that the horse's foot is the same as the edge of the pillar decoration. The lotus and the frame are two, one small portion longer than that. The zar tsag is two shorter than that. The snout is one longer than that. The tassel is two shorter than that. The shar bu is one longer than that. A garuda head is raised one higher than that. The width of the lotus, Dharma wheel, and umbrella are all two small portions each. Half a small portion each to the left and right of the lotus. Draw one deer each at the discarded place. The way the ox back with three eyes is surrounded is the outer line of the third cloth of the horse-landing and all.
