Having respectfully bowed to Heruka, I will explain the essential instruction of the great secret. Samaya! May the supreme empowerment of the accomplished Bodhicitta be attained! With pure secret vows, in order to quickly accomplish Buddhahood for the benefit of others, this profound path should be meditated upon. In a forest of medicinal mountains, or in great charnel grounds, etc., in solitary and blessed places, the supreme accomplishment of bliss will be achieved. Having bathed with amrita water, straighten the body on a comfortable seat. Clear the stale air, and bring forth renunciation and the two aspects of Bodhicitta to mind. Invite the Lama, the blood-drinking Vajra holder, into the sky in front. With body, speech, and mind in one-pointedness, take refuge and hold the vows. Hūṃ! (Tibetan, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) The great Vajra Amrita of samsara and nirvana, the indivisible union of Heruka. Together with the assembly of Lamas and Dakinis, I take refuge with reverence through the three doors. For all limitless sentient beings, with impartial compassion, may they all be led. In order to establish them on the ground of great bliss, meditate on the yoga of the great blood-drinker. Confess and restrain sins, obscurations, faults, and transgressions.
