The Vase of Wishes, a Sadhana Manual for Manjushri Yamantaka. Written by Gyurme Dorje. The Vase of Wishes, a Sadhana Manual for Manjushri Yamantaka. Written by Gyurme Dorje. The Vase of Wishes, a Sadhana Manual for Manjushri Yamantaka, is presented herein. I prostrate to the Guru and Manjushri Vajrabhairava, inseparable. Here, a mantra practitioner who has received empowerment and abides by the samaya wishes to practice Manjushri Yamantaka, the subduer of arrogance. First, in a secluded place free from harm from enemies, thieves, etc., without unqualified individuals, and free from noise and distractions, in a place that is agreeable to the mind and under one's own control. At an auspicious time with good astrological conjunctions during the waxing moon of any month. Gather all the necessary items, such as the materials for offering tormas and food, doubled, and other conducive materials. Rely on friends who are like-minded, gentle, with pure conduct and samaya, and who are not weary of providing assistance. Make a commitment not to leave this seat until the practice is completed, and decide to complete it within a certain number of months, without impatience or a lack of determination. Because of necessity, when giving and receiving people and items, etc., is required, include them within the boundary from the beginning. If this is not done, sending them inside will cause the boundary to be broken. Therefore, entering the boundary with these considerations of what to accept and reject is the preliminary practice. The main practice consists of two parts: peaceful practice and wrathful accomplishment. The first is: In front of oneself, place a painted or sculpted image of Manjushri. In front of it, on a clean platform, place a round, decorated torma made of salu flour and other three white and three sweet substances, as well as common and special protector tormas, including medicine and alcohol. Arrange water, the two uses, and other offerings, clean and pure. Sit facing south in the form of an image and facing oneself, with a soft and comfortable cushion underneath, on which a swastika and dharma wheel are drawn with white earth or rice. Place a vajra, bell, damaru, inner offering skull cup, and flower container to the right or in front. In addition, the implements for the tsok feast, etc., at this time.

All necessary items are complete and comfortably arranged. Then, the essence of the practice is to proceed sequentially through the yoga of the four sessions, starting from the evening session of the first day. First, sit comfortably on the seat, and merely through the phrase "ཨྱཻ། ཨེ་ཉིད་སྟོང་པ་(Tibetan), अयि एनिः शून्यता (Sanskrit Devanagari), ayi eṇiḥ śūnyatā (Sanskrit Romanization), Ah! This is emptiness," instantly arise and stabilize the pride of Yama, the Lord of Death. According to the ritual, finally offer the torma to the earth deities and obstructors, and drive them away with white mustard seeds sprinkled while reciting mantras, Intensely perform incense burning, etc. Pile up stones at the doorway, visualize them as the Four Great Kings, offer sacrificial tormas, entrust them with the task of guarding against obstacles, and remain steadfast. Then, visualize yourself as the Lord of Death, Yama, from the ཧཱུྃ་(Tibetan), हुं (Sanskrit Devanagari), hūṃ (Sanskrit Romanization), Hūṃ syllable at your heart, rays of light emanate, radiating in the ten directions. A burning ten-spoked wheel, with the top and bottom pointing in each direction, inside the hub, at the tip of each spoke is a Guardian of the Ten Directions, each seated on a sun cushion. From the ten black ཧཱུྃ་(Tibetan), हुं (Sanskrit Devanagari), hūṃ (Sanskrit Romanization), Hūṃ syllables, manifest ten wrathful deities, all black, holding hammers and iron hooks, the wrathful deities blazing with majesty. Within it, the tent of skillful means and wisdom, the light of the sun and moon, composed of vowels and consonants, is vast and immense, without gaps. Below the outside of the wheel, a vajra ground is spread, etc., surrounded by a circular fence of upright vajras, and the outside waist is bound by a net of vajra chains. Above, a circular vajra tent is erected, from the outer surface hang dense strands of vajra garlands. The top is adorned with a vajra pinnacle. All gaps are filled with fine vajra threads, without any space. Within it, a vajra canopy is spread like an umbrella. Outside of it, swords, bows and arrows, spears, pegs, etc., all weapons with sharp cutting abilities, with their tips pointing outwards. Finally, the wisdom fire manifests in five colors, burning fiercely like the fire at the end of an eon, from the tip of the flames, wrathful deities are ejected, and sparks of weapons scatter like stars. Visualize it burning and destroying all obstacles and demonic forces, pervading all directions. (Tibetan)"Hūṃ! I am Mañjuśrī, the Lord of Death, Yama!" etc., until: ཨོཾ་མ་ཧཱ་ཀྲོ་དྷ་རཀྵ་ཛྭ་ལ་རཾ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ༔(Tibetan), ॐ महाक्रोध रक्ष ज्वाला रं हुं फट् (Sanskrit Devanagari), oṃ mahākrodha rakṣa jvāla raṃ hūṃ phaṭ (Sanskrit Romanization), Om! Great Wrathful One! Protect! Flame! Burn! Hūṃ! Phaṭ!. This protection wheel is the final session for dissolving the boundaries.
